So when you unfriend someone on Facebook... |
|
...do they get a message saying they've been unfriended? Damn, I hope so. Had to do it for the first time today, am still mad. Someone whom I thought was a friend posted something highly insulting on my wall. Probably thought it was a joke. I wasn't amused.
I'd noticed for a while now that there were some irreconcilable differences between us that would make future communication problematic, but I was trying to ignore that. Tonight it became obvious that this was not going to work. Goes to show you, don't waste your time with people who piss you off, no matter what other good qualities they (seem to) have.

1. I don't think that they do |
|
but you could probably go to the "Help" menu and ask. I have "unfriended" people too - for various reasons - and never heard back one way or the other that they ever knew. I think you just disappear from their "friends" list and go on your merry way.
Maybe there should be an option on FB - "Do you want to notify this scumball that he/she is unfriended?" I know what I'd probably answer, lol.

4. Oh, I like your option idea! ;) |

But yeah, I guess like CaliforniaPeggy said below, they'll just eventually figure it out. Too bad, because they deserved a swift kick out the door.

2. I don't think they get any message. |

I know, because I was unfriended some time ago, and it took me a while to figure it out...
Don't worry about it. Your former friend will figure it out after a while.

3. I'm truly sorry I posted the picture of Cheney |

photoshopped so it looked like his dick was hanging out.
You were right to unfriend me.
I am a wretch, and deserving of no less.

Okay, that was funny enough to make me slightly less pissed-off. Thanks. ;)

7. They don't get a message. |

They won't know you "unfriend" them until they don't notice your posts anymore.
If at all.

8. Exactly my experience. |

My BIL...a HUGE Republican and fundy, un-friended me and I didn't realize it until I noticed I wasn't seeing anymore of his banal nonsense.
I never got any kind of notice at all.
It must have been when I subscribed to "Republicans are idiots and arguing with them is a waste of time".
The nitwit thinks Sarah Palin is actually smart.

10. No message. They eventually notice someone dropped off their friend list |
|
If it's family, you can just place them on ignore.
