Dammit. Why do all the new action movies have to be in 3D?
My husband and I haven't seen a movie together in the theaters for probably 3+ years (though I saw The King's Speech when it first came out with my sister). Was thinking about going to see The Hangover II, but it has gotten so badly panned we'll wait until the DVD comes out. So, next up could have been X Men: First Class, but it's in 3D. My husband will end up with a migraine, and I'll puke on the floors if we go see a 3D movie.

Tell me, are 3D movies really that much better? Or is it just some gimmick to charge more in theater?

1. We usually forego 3-D as it costs more and the 4-yr old won't keep the glasses on
so he looses interest. BUT, must say the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie was great in 3-D, lots of fun and stuff really looked like it was jumping out of the screen.

2. We have been to 3. The only difference I have seen is the price.

3. So they can charge you $4 more.
It's very "Duh. Winning!" as I know more people who won't go see those big action blockbusters in the theatre anymore because:

Family of 4

4 tickets for 3D movie
2 popcorn
4 soda
4 candy
Parking

$100

Too fucking much!!

4. I just usually see those movies in 2D. Most theatres (at least around here) affer that.
If it's like a children's animated movie or one that was filed in 3D I'll sometimes shell out the extra money, but if it's been post-converted (like a lot of them are these days) then I won't bother because post-conversion usually sucks anyway. I'll save those extra dollars and buy a soda or something.
