Can Beagles and Cats Coexist Peacefully? |
|
Wondering if we should add a cat to the family
We're already home to a Beagle, who sleeps and occasionally yawns

No direct personal experience, but daughter brought cat 'home' where beagle lives. Not much experience as cat died due to bite of some sort, NOT beagle bite, insect, but I think cat and beagle (and boxer pup) did ok.

2. Yes, direct experience. |
|
Of course, we had the cat first and brought in the dog, but my Beagle, now 13, has shared our home with now 5 different cats with as many as 3 at a time.
They don't do any snuggling (although one cat tries) but they have never gotten into any fights of any kind.

of our kittens. They still groom each other and take naps side by side.

4. No, and neither can bugles and cats - UNLESS they are the snack food - then they are golden. |
|
I used to love Bugles, but they have the highest saturated fat content of any snack food I'm aware of so I won't even touch them now.

5. But bugles and casts are great. |
|
Because when you have your leg in a cast nothing makes you feel better than a bag of bugles.
Except maybe a chopstick to scratch with.

6. When we were kids we had a Beagle and a cat that were best buds |
|
Both were rescues - the Beagle had been abandoned at a garage where Dad got his trucks worked on. The cat was an old Tom who realized we were soft touches and selected our family as his retirement home for his old age. They hung out together pretty much all the time and curled up together on the back porch.
When the old tom cat died in his sleep, the Beagle was inconsolable and moped around, refusing to eat. The Beagle passed away about six months later. The vet said it was from old age (he was probably about fifteen) but we always thought it was a broken heart.

8. We have a Bailey and 4 cats... |
|
It's weird because 2 of the kitties will curl up and sleep with him. The other two, though, if the leave the kitchen he barks until they jump back over the fence. He has never hurt any of them, though, and I sincerely doubt he would. He just likes to play with them and 2 cats will and 2 cats won't follow through.
