To me, there is no better song, or tribute than to the men of the Fitz. Gordon Lightfoot sang a masterpiece!!!

4. Since you are talking about Gordon Lightfoot,
all of his songs are the best, but this is my favorite.

16. One of my favorite songs ever.
It reminds me of my home, cuz where else are the foghorns gonna blow?

When I lived in London as a young adult, I was never homesick till I heard "Into the Mystic" on the radio. One and only time I just bawled my eyes out wanting to come home.

That's the greatest thing about great music: it's just visceral and evocative, far more than a great painting or any other sensory experience.

Most depressing song EVER!

I used to turn off the radio when it was a hit.

Dream Theater won't be the same without Mike Portnoy. They made a mistake when they kicked him out.

23. Would you believe I'm a Dream Theater fan too?
And as for the new drummer, I'm holding out hope.

Portnoy wanted a long break but three other members couldn't sit still. It sucks, but I really can't blame the other members for wanting to keep up a busier schedule. In a case like that it kinda has to come down to majority rule. And I watched some videos on YouTube about the auditions for the new drummer. The guy they chose is fucking incredible. Seriously!

I think the band will be fine. Can't wait for the new album. :)

I actually watched this beautifully made video of The Wreck... just last night:

and here's a great performance of Thunder Road in black and white from 1978 with a great spoken intro:

24. I enjoy way too many genres of rock and pop plus other styles...
...and certainly way too many bands and musicians, to have just one favorite song.

But I will say I love Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and have since it came out when I was barely starting school. I was already well versed in the Beatles and other major bands due to the constant playing of my older brothers' 45s on my Show 'n' Tell as a toddler, once the slide show records became boring. :)

25. That's a tough one. Really depends on my mood. Can't You Hear Me Knocking...
by the Stones is one that I can listen to over and over. From Keith's suberb opening hook through Bobby Keys' haunting sax work to the wickedly understated solo by Mick Taylor to finish it's a masterpiece of the genre.

I cannot imagine having to get up in front of 50,000 people and play that--especially since most of the 50,000 people know it note-for-note, and it's fourteen minutes long.

Marr's shimmering guitar work is hypnotizing. It is the major song of my youth. It sounds different than anything that came before or after it.
