Ever walked into a plate glass window?
Edited on Mon Jun-06-11 09:58 AM by miscsoc
I have, twice. First time I was a kid in a car showroom and there was an audible intake of breath from everyone in the vicinity. Second time was a few years ago. I was drunk, it was a chip shop, and the guy behind the counter silently handed me a tissue to wipe up the blood from my nose (I tried to 'open' a window thinking it was the door, with predictable consequences)

Am I just exceptionally clumsy or has this happened to a lot of people?

Shit is invisible and hard!

Specifically not about healing, and errors of purpose.

This is a good song.

4. yes, exiting a Subway sandwich shop.
I just felt really stupid and embarrassed and didn't complain or anything. I was temporarily stunned.

5. omg, Ouch.
I've never done that but I've kept walking when trying to open my back door and b/c of sweaty hands slipping off the handle or it getting stuck it doesn't open. I've banged my face and over extended my wrist countless times doing that.

6. My six year old son ran into one while we were waiting for my car at a tire shop.
He ran into it hard -- all I could think of was that he was going to go right through it!!

Luckily, the only thing he suffered from was a little embarrassment.

7. the thing is the dots and stuff they have at eye level to show you there's something in front of you
are at adult level. So kids just run right under. Ouch.

8. This has happened to a lot of people
including me. I was at the grand opening of the new LAPD communications center, where my daughter works as a dispatcher, answering 911 calls and talking to cops by radio. I tried to exit where there was a window but no door. At first I didn't understand what had happened. My forehead, nose, knee and other places hurt. Later, there were bruises and swelling. It wasn't serious, but it wasn't fun, either.

Later I found out that several other people had made the same mistake in the same place, including a fire fighter who was responding to a call and running when he hit the glass.

9. I was at a teenage party when the parents came home. They told us all to leave. There was a crush of
people at the door and I was pushed against a glass door. My elbow went through the glass and broke it. At least it was only one pane. I felt so guilty I went back 1/2 hour later and offered to pay for it.

10. Caught one as a kid at the zoo...
Big window with a 45 degree angled ledge at the bottom.

Looking at the monkey, stepped forward, slipped forward and got that nice dull thud that reverberates through the room. My mom laughed for an hour....
