I am something of an expert in old 70s and 80s european electronic music - and I tell you, at the moment that appeared in "The Big Lebowski" I just about lost my lunch laughing at just how accurate it is.
There are a few "rules" behind good electronic tracks of the 70s and 80s - let me lay them down:
Rule Number 1: Subject Matter: Must be about sex, science fiction, communists, completely incomprehensible lyrics, or trains - or a combination thereof. I know, sounds odd, but here are some great examples:
Ganymed - Black Hole Five (science fiction & sex) Carolyne Bernier - Secret Agent Love (science fiction & sex) East Wall - Eyes of Glass (communists & science fiction) Telex - Moskow Diskow (communists & trains) Stereo - Somewhere In The Night (science fiction & sex) Cless - Extraterrestreally (scifi & sex) B.W.H. - Stop (incomprehensible) Dance Reaction - Disco Train (obvious)
Well, really, there is just one rule.
BTW: Great link, and good effort...
