While people are just starting to get out of bed, I've managed to go another night without any sleep. Even after taking a sleeping pill, and even after I took some Benadryl to get drowsy. The sleeping pill doesn't work, and I guess the constant parade of thoughts running through my brain didn't help much, either.
Oh well.
I wish there were an Insomniacs Anonymous. Even if I can't sleep, I'd have someone to talk with at 4 in the morning.

I'm probably much older than you but have been suffering from this affliction for years. I toll around all night and clock watch. Yup, it is still middle of the night. Light on, read more.
I finally talked to my Doctor about the situation after developing Restless Leg Syndrome. RLS made it even worse. I now take an anti-anxiety pill he prescribed and things are better but I know my sleep in not normal. Talk to your doc, he can give the advice as to how to cope. That warm bath, warm milk and all that other stuff did not work for me.
I also bought as memory foam mattress topper. That one item helped me a lot, made the bed a bit more comfortable. Lack of sleep something you should not let ride.

I think it took hold when I worked graveyard right out of school. I'd even work a double shift, sometimes--3-11 and then 11-7. I'm in my mid fifties now, so it's been quite a few years for me, too.
Problem is, I have fibromyalgia among many other things, and without a good night's sleep, I ache even more. My doctors were glad I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, and they put me on a CPAP machine, but the damned thing is useless--my sleep isn't improving, and I feel about as refreshed as a dog in a city dumpster.
My doctors are also playing with my meds right now, and I'm so sick and tired about all those additional headaches right now.
I do think the heatwave yesterday (and supposedly today) is not helping out a whole lot. When the heat is so stifling, it's hard to sleep, even with the air conditioner on.
I do have a doctor's appt. this morning--ironically, it's going to be about the insomnia, at least a part of it will be.

the amount of exercise I do is minimal. I did get to join the Y to swim, but I need to get my act together and get there more often than I do. It's the only place I can go where my joints and muscles don't bother me as much when I'm swimming.
