The 50 Worst Sci-Fi Movies
I can't think of 50, but here are a few gawdawful ones:

Plan 9 from outer space
The Man from Planet X
Invasion of the Bee Girls

1. BattleField Earth has got to be in the top 3.
Positively unwatchable.

2. How could I have forgotten Battlefield Earth?
IMDB gives it 2.4 out of 10 stars--about the lowest score I've ever seen.

10. Battlefield Earth is the Citizen Kane of crappy sci-fi movies
Seriously, they don't get any worse. At least Plan 9 was unintentionally funny and entertaining.

16. I liked Citizen Kane.
We must be from different planets. The way I see it, any movie that could piss off William Randolph Hearst couldn't be all bad.

If you have Netflix, you can watch the MST3K of it online.

38. Yeah but you can't compare it with the likes of Plan 9 or 50 ft woman
Those movies made in the 50s were bad but they were campy. You watched them because they made you laugh at just how silly they were.

But Battlefield Earth - that's not even campy, it's just wretchedly horrible

Even fewer than Battlefield Earth. I think I won't watch Laserblast.

11. Check out the Mystery Science Theater version, if you get a chance.
It's rather humorous. I actually think that Netflix has it streaming. I can't imagine watching Laserblast otherwise.

I actually visited the trimaran, all but abandoned with on inch of bird guano crusting the decks, in a San Diego marina.

19. Mega Python vs. Gatoroid
With the acting talent of Debby Gibson, Micky Dolenz, and Tiffany.

On the upside, it was the best comedy ever.

you can see the styles and elements of Kubrick and Speilberg in it (hint: all the parts that sucked are Speilberg.)

23. Here are fifteen others that I've seen:
In no particular order:

-Future War (1997)
-Laserblast (1978)
-First Spaceship on Venus (1960)
-Teenagers From Outer Space (1959)
-Space Mutiny (1988)
-This Island Earth (1955)
-The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962)
-The Incredibly Strange Creatures who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies (1964)
-Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964)
-Warrior of the Lost World (1983)
-Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)
-Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)
-Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
-Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)

And the worst movie ever made:

-The Beast From Yucca Flats (1961)

It makes Plan 9 From Outer Space look good.

Nemesis was a barely coherent dumbed-down action-schlock remake of Wrath of Khan.

32. I think that you thought that I thought that you thought wrong.
Although I suppose it was better than Generations and Insurrection, but that's scraping the bottom of the barrel. Nemesis might be the 51st worst sci-fi movie of all time.

33. Not ***THE CREEPING TERROR*** ?!?
Edited on Thu Jun-16-11 04:27 AM by eppur_se_muova
The dialog was so poorly executed that every line but one* was voiced-over by the narrator! The Terror itself was a carpet remnant! A unique (albeit slow-moving) treat for insomniacs who really want to giggle themselves into a state of hypoxia!

This movie is usually mentioned in the illustrious company of Plan Nine -- only a cage match to the death can settle the question of which is truly worst.

ETA: 1.8/10 on IMDB. It must have been Freeped!

*That line was "No!".

39. For this list to be fair you have to distinguish between Campy Bad vs. Unwatchable Bad
I'll watch "Plan 9 from Outer Space" because it's so bad it's hilarious.

I couldn't even survive 5 minutes of "Battlefield Earth" it was such awful dreck of wretchedness.
