And welcome to the cool, air conditioned, laid-back Lounge. Come on. Set a spell. Kick your shoes off.

This happens every year, and every year the bushes get bigger and it gets harder to clear around them x(

I think kudzu's flowers are beautiful though:

13. For those of you who are not familiar with kudzu, here are the planting
and growing instructions:

Gardening Tips from Down South

How to Grow Kudzu

All you beginning gardeners out there might want to
consider growing kudzu as a fine way to launch out into the great
adventure of gardenning in the south. Kudzu, for those of you
not already familiar with it, is a hardy perennial that can be
grown quite well by the beginner who observes these few simple
rules:

Choosing a Plot:

Kudzu can be grown almost anywhere, so site selection is
not the problem it is with some other finicky plants like
strawberries. Although kudzu will grow quite well on cement, for
best result you should select an area having at least some dirt.
To avoid possible lawsuits, it is advisable to plant well away
from your neighbors house, unless, of course, you don't get along
well with your neighbor anyway.

Preparing the Soil:

Go out and stomp on the soil for a while just to get its
attention and to prepare it for kudzu.

Deciding When to Plant:

Kudzu should always be planted at night. If kudzu is
planted during daylight hours, angry neighbors might see you and
begin throwing rocks at you.

1) look at the seeds.

2) run.

I don't think you even need to drop it.

39. Good, with bulls, the kudzu won't get out of control
You can tell when a pasture has cattle in it - there is no kudzu in the pasture. There can be kudzu growing thickly just out of the reach of the cattle, but none IN the pasture.

23. Please, no more threads about kudzu.
I am trying to keep a sense of humor about this, so please bear with me.

I have instructed the moderators to lock new threads about kudzu. If you must discuss kudzu-- and, yes, I understand it is a *vitally* important topic in which you all have an intense interest -- please do so in one of the threads that was opened previously. Here's a good one:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=105&topic_id=3499154

Go post in there. Or post here.

I think that some of you are well aware that the discussions about kudzu are not about kudzu at all. The purpose of these threads is to dig up an old flame war and wave it in the faces of certain people, because you want to get under their skin. To their credit, those people have not taken the bait. But we really think that a dozen threads on a topic specifically intended to bait people is really enough.

But now we are in a completely idiotic death-spiral of enforcement and boundaries-testing. The mods lock a thread, and then three spring up. And so the purpose of starting threads about kudzu is no longer about tweaking a few of your fellow DUers, it's now about tweaking the moderators.

And then I get incredulous emails from people who are shocked, shocked that discussion of kudzu -- kudzu fercryinoutloud -- is not allowed. As if the discussion of kudzu is something that is vitally important and that everyone is really interested in.

So please, if you really need to discuss kudzu, do it in one of the threads that is already open on the subject. But please stop posting new threads about kudzu or Olive Garden or whatever. I know it's really fun to tweak people, especially when those people are the moderators, but I think it's time to find to something else fun to do.

Thank you for your understanding.
