5. If the filet is cooked just right, with the right seasoning, yes...
Otherwise, I'll take a NY Strip. Either way, it must be cooked only to medium-rare. Anything else is leather!

Somehow wrapping bacon around a filet seems like cheating...

But yummy cheating

10. Jains.
Though the question is a redundancy. All Jainists are vegan, their religion forbids harm to any living thing. They carry brooms to sweep the ground in front of their feet and cover their noses and mouths all in order to not accidentally kill insects.

I know a lot of vegans, none as hardcore as that.

Or do they not consider fruits & vegetables to be "living things"?

13. They usually plant every seed they can when they eat fruit
They don't eat roots

Or seeds

Now THAT is pro life...

15. Yeah
also considered recycling, if you plant the seeds of what you eat.

Of course that would mean you couldn't eat nuts or grains either, since the edible part is the seed.

For me, that would be harder to give up than meat.

16. You're losing a lot of protein sources
Soybeans are a 'seed' as well...as are black beans and pintos

30. The whole idea is if you eat the seed and your diet is pure...
..that when it come out the other end, it fertilizes the land. But humans eat so much garbage in the 21st century, that doesn't work anymore.

I'm a vegetarian, and I don't consider myself hard-core. I tried to be a vegan a long time ago, but I love yogurt just a little too much.

Not to mention Gelato in Italy!

22. hard core isn't applied to the dietary choice (well, maybe Jainism)
it is applied to the attitude and behavior of the individuals. having said that:

some omnivores are almost freaking carnivores and barely touch a vegetable unless it has been converted to muscle

plenty of omnivores are really hardcore about eating a healthy, balanced diet that includes meat

a lot vegetarians do the same

probably more vegans are "hard core" in that it takes more effort to eat out of the mainstream, but there are still junk-food vegans

religious extremists, no matter how benign their practices, always seem pretty "hard core" to me

28. Okay....
Pescatarian - Basically a vegetarian who eats fish and maybe bugs

Vegetarian - One who does not eat meat, but will indulge in animal products (honey, milk, eggs)

Vegan - No meat, no animal products

Jain - A religious sect in India that truly lives up to the "pro-life" thing. All life is sacred, including plants. Will not kill a plant to eat from it. Will not eat seeds. Will not eat roots. Wears a mask to keep from killing bugs. Also wears special shoes as to not step on bugs.
