Anyone Here Read "Prey" By Michael Crighton?
Sorry if I spelled his name wrong.

I read the whole book during the blackout yesterday. Finished the last page two seconds before power was restored at 12:50 a.m.

:)

I thought it was an awesome book. I know they're making it into a movie and it should be interesting how they fit all that scientific mumbo-jumbo into a 90-minute film.

But I sure as hell want to see how they make those little camera bugs.

Anyone else have any thoughts on the book?

1. Thought it was the suckiest piece of crap I ever read
no, I guess I've read worse...

I don't buy his characters for a moment. Plastic.

3. really?
The protagonist, Jack, really reminded me of myself in the way I've related to ex girlfriends - excusing their inane and rude behavior.

His wife kept reminding me of Ann Coulter, though, which threw me off.

But I like the cool twist at the end of the book.

5. Yeah
Crichton's science is shaky and I guess that made the whole thing (even for science fiction) lack credibility --

Must be just me. The book was a #1 NYT bestseller for quite a while.

2. Yes, i read it recently.
The novel itself wasn't his best but the subject is timely. Crichton echoes our fears about this newly emerging technology; fears that range from scientific, ethical, and philosophical to the irrational and superstitious fears that fuel horror movies and novels.

4. I like "the diamond age" better
It's by Stephenson and takes a different approach on Nano-technology (not horror).
