anyone know who Ray Price was?
He was my grandmother's favorite singer.

And he just came on in my shuffle. "For The Good Times." His music is real soothing. He's got that going for him.

He did, that is.

1. Yes, of course - but I didn't know he'd passed away.
I'm sorry to hear it. :(

I thought he had died, but it seems that I was wrong about that. I'm glad to hear that. But I'm sorry for the bad information.

4. Great Singer, From Those Long-Ago Days When C&W Was Worth A Shit.

Back before wearing a black cowboy hat and having a "music" video featuring a beat-up old truck and some slutty-looking women constituted a career.....

7. I blame this prick

Seriously, he was to old-school country what The Beatles were to Elvis, except I don't mean that in a good way at all. The higher this guy's star rose, the faster C&W turned to horseshit.

8. Put this in yer player
http://youtu.be/BhOvrVUoJoY
Funny (How Time Slips Away) by Ray Price

I also recommend the version Willie did with Leon Russell, or the one Willie did with Francine Reed on "Milkcow Blues".
Or Willie solo among a jury of his peers: http://youtu.be/iZaZqx9v3dU

The song was written by Willie and on his debut album in 1962. Ray made a hit out of it too.

13. Two words: Crazy Arms
1956 pure-dee Essence of Honky Tonk, and I swear it's the Wilburn Brothers on harmony vocals. (I read that on the Internet, so it MUST be true.) WARNING: Hard-core twang at link!

17. That's good, innit?
Those harmonies, that lead vocal vibrato, that pedal steel, crazy good lyrics. It's what we all want in country. Nothing more, nothing less.
Try The Statler Brothers. They kick metal country ass.

16. Yes, I am old enough to remember him.
I liked his songs as a teen before I even knew what country/western music was.
