Shocked this morning by upside-down flag! |
|
I saw it on the apartment complex across the street from me. Now why would an apartment complex fly a flag upside down?

2. Well, you do know it's an international sign of distress, right? |
|
Maybe they have too many vacancies? Then again, maybe they hate ShrubCo.

4. When I buy postage stamps |
|
I buy the purple heart stamps, the people working at our post office know this, and the woman there will hand me a sheet without asking. However, the main guy there sometimes works the counter and is a big time america supporter with a capital A. He'll smile real big and hand me a sheet of flag stamps, so, I smile back and in plain view stick them on upside down.

5. Upside Down Stamps Mean "I Love You".... Don't They? |
|
That's what I've always heard. --- But I'm sure the folks at Mastercard and Sears wouldn't even bother to notice the upside down stamp with your friendly and subtle message.
Oh well.

6. I thought that was only for inamtes |
|
I used to work in a women's prison and that was the only place I ever heard that.
(I also put my flag stamps on upside down. I order mine through the mail and marked the box for a different kind, I am so sick of looking at that flag, but they sent me the flag anyway.)

9. I put the flag stamps on upside down too. |
|
Just my way of subtle protest against this illegal administration and their disgusting crimes against our nation and the international community.

7. There's a flag flying at a prominent intersection in my |
|
new neighborhood, and it's supposed to be in memory of the victims of 9/11.
On the day my furniture arrived, I came to meet the truck and saw that this flag was upside down. During the course of the day, a grim-faced man came, took it down, and raised it again, this time rightside up.
I suspect that some anti-Bush protestors had turned the flag upside down. Whether the grim-faced man understood the significance of it or just thought it was "crazy kids," I don't know.

I suspect it was just a mistake. I taught in a Middle School where the principal had students put the flag up daily. One morning I noticed it was upside down. When I told them they just shrugged. They (including the principal) had no idea it was a distress signal.
