1. Yet another huge talent from the early days that was taken away when he was still so young

3. There are so many
George Harrison was a huge fan. He referred to the Gretsch 6120 as "the Eddie Cochran/Duane Eddy guitar".

5. I have no idea if this is true; may very well be...From wikipedia:
The car and other items from the crash were impounded at the local police station until a coroner's inquest could be held. A police cadet at the station, who would become Dave Dee of the band Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich, taught himself to play guitar on Cochran's impounded Gretsch.<12> Earlier in the tour, the same guitar had been carried to the car for Cochran by a young fan later to become Marc Bolan of T.Rex.<13> A posthumous album, My Way, was released in 1964.

"So many" is right, and so incredibly young....I watched a documentary on Buddy Holly just last night. Many of Buddy's friends and family believe he had an inkling that his time on earth would not be long. His brother, and Peggy Sue Gerron talk about how he was "always in a hurry" like he knew he didn't have much time... Eerie that Eddie did a tribute song to them and was gone a year later himself. I used to sing 20 Flight Rock many years ago and still miss doing rockabilly...

2. Blue Cheer's version was my first 45.
Not out of puberty. I was still a virgin. Never had a job. Still liked the sound and the story.
My first favorite rock song? "Ain't no cure..." Still love it.
Love Eddie Cochran.

7. I had this Eddie Cochran album from France ...
I found it in a bargain bin someplace.

On it was a live cut, a rehearsal thing, it might have been Milk Cow Blues ...

and it was incredible electric guitar soloing, way before Clapton, and better, way better. It made me think about what might have been.
