$23,000 for this cat??!!
http://www.lifestylepets.com/ - where to buy the cat

http://www.odditycentral.com/pics/ashera-rarest-cat-in-the-world.html

Actually the Ashera is not only the rarest, but also the largest, most expensive and exotic house cat you can find. This breed was created by blending two exotic feline bloodlines with that of a domestic cat.

The Ashera can reach 14 kilograms in weight and 1 meter in length, it’s famous for taking well to being walked on a leash and getting along with kids and other pets. Now it’s not that I don’t trust the experts but I wouldn’t leave my kid alone with one of these, cats are very independent and sometimes unpredictable and kids can piss them off easily, who knows how they might react.

One thing is for sure, they are magnificent animals, well worth $22.000 ($28.000 if you want the Ashera GD, a rarer, hypoallergenic version).

1. They look like Savannahs, and apparently some of them actually are/;

Anyway, aside from the cost, I wouldn't want one. Too wild for me, and I like my cats teensy. :)

2. not the same as a Savannah cat
or is it?

http://www.ajsavannahs.com/FAQ/Generation_and_Genetics/generation_and_genetics.html

The Savannah cat is the result of a cross between an African Serval and a domestic cat. The kittens resulting from the cross between the Serval and domestic cat are recognized as domestic Savannah cats.

What does F1, F2 etc., mean?
The F or Filial rating corresponds to the number of generations away from the Serval cross.

·An F1 has a Serval as a parent (usually the male parent) — 1 generation away from the wild cross.
F2 has a Serval for the grandparent — 2 generations away from the wild cross
F3 the Serval is great grandparent — 3 generations away
F4 the Serval is great-great grandparent - 4 generations away
F5 the Serval is great-great-great grandparent — 5 generations away
SBT, which stands for Stud Book Traditional, per The International Cat Association (TICA) simply means that the cat is no longer a Foundation (F1-F5) cat and has at least three generations in it’s pedegree that are within the breed and without any outcrosses to another breed.

How big will my Savannah be when full grown?
Size is determined by generation, gender, and genetics. AJSavannahs’ F2 males tend to be quite large. Please see our Kittens page and Testimonials page for examples from past litters.

3. LOL, I love how they dismiss any negative reviews as crazy PETA
Edited on Tue Aug-09-11 10:09 AM by charlie and algernon
on the "About" page, they dismiss any negative reviews of their services as crazy PETA and animal rights activists disguised as former clients.

Those cats are beautiful, but I take a pass on any company that feels they have to address negative reviews on their website and dismiss it as just crazy talk.

in later years.

I'll stick with my tabby cat, I guess.

9. No thanks, I prefer dogs.
If I had an extra $28,000 to spend, I'd buy an exotic dog species. whatever that may be.

14. Fortunately, I am not allegeric to dog hair.
Otherwise, I would be in big trouble since I have 3 dogs, all short haired. Had one long-haired dog but was not bothered by his hair.

10. How many shelter kitties could be rescued for $23,000?
This kind of price for a pet is obscene.

12. For a hypoallergenic cat
or one that is mostly so, a Siberian cat is much cheaper. Many people who are allergic to cats can tolerate them. Be sure to get one from a reputable breeder though.

13. Many hybrids have very unpredictable behavioral traits
-owners have to give them up when they cannot handle them anymore.

"The Wildcat Sanctuary receives more calls from owners wanting to surrender Bengal domestic cats than all other wildcats and hybrids combined."

15. I couldn't own a cat this large
One of them could do some serious damage in a hurry. They have to be all muscle and the fangs look to be around an inch long. Plus I bet they could eat you out of house and home. Imagine the size litter box you would need. Need to purchase litter by the ton. Wouldn't take long and the house would smell like the cat house at the zoo.

If I had that kind of money for a cat I would consider cloning the male gray tabby I have right now. He is the best cat I have ever had.

17. I can't quite get a sense of how big they are....
I wish one of these pics had a human bean in it....
They are beautiful critters. I love the scooped nose and the lanky body. But I already have six interior cats and one exterior feral. I think I'll pass.
