Washington DC...Request for a place to get good dessert...kid friendly...Near the Mall
Going to DC this weekend and would like to go out for Dessert on Saturday night to celebrate a couple of birthdays in our group.

I don't know DC well at all but we will be in and around the Mall. A good bakery/sweet shop/etc?

Any suggestions (reasonably priced) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

1. I haven't been to any of them, but there are cupcake places in Georgetown

Seems to be the "IN" thing now. Georgetown Cupcake has their own TLC show. http://www.georgetowncupcake.com/

There aren't really any "Desert" places on the mall though. Though in a bind, you could go into any of the Smithsonian museums. They usually have cafes that serve desert.

EDIT: Now that I see you're going on Saturday night, the Smithsonian museums won't work. Another suggestion, depending on how many kids are with you, is to find a Cosi's that serves s'mores. They give you an open flame with a bunch of marshmallows, graham crackers, and hershey bars. That's always fun.

2. Thank you. I'm not familiar with Cosi's. We really need to be around the mall area but I'll google
it.

5. Georgetown is not near the Mall, but there may be a Cosi's nearby.
There was, a few years ago.

3. In the American History museum is an ice cream parlor -- a re-creation!

What a perfect place for dessert.

Oh, but you said at night.

Well, there's Union Station with its big food court! Lots of fun stuff going on there, and it's just two blocks from the Capitol Bldg.

4. there's always the cafe inside the Hyatt Regency

Just a block away from the mall at 400 New Jersey. I always thought they had good food in the cafe, and it's inside a nice lobby.

Few blocks from the Mall, if you're near 14th Street.

Mall is long; get your map out.

Have fun!
