4. I just put "The Bigger They Come" on my new mix CD for the car...
...one of two songs that survived Frampton & Marriott's aborted sessions for a Pie reunion, just months before Marriott's death.

It first showed up in the Don Johnson / Mickey Rourke stinkbomb of a flick "Harley Davidson & The Marlboro Man," then later on Frampton's 2-CD "Shine On" anthology.

The song proved one thing...both Frampton and Marriott still "had it," and if things hadn't fallen apart, this could have been AMAZING...and this song is KILLER. Marriott is in FINE voice after years of playing dive bars in Europe with bass & drum pickup musicians like his last band "Packet of Three."

Frampton's solo runs from the 2:40-3:06 mark and he pulls off an EXTREMELY tasty "bee sting vibrato" at the end.

:toast:

5. Sweet.
I always liked Marriott's harp work too. That little solo at 2:25 right before Frampton's has a killer opening bend, he pushes it so hard that it breaks up though the whole thing but stays right on key. Blues to the bone. B-)

Would have been nice to see and hear those two again. RIP Steve.
