3. Mine scoops his dry food into his water bowl
If I place the water bowl to far from his food bowl, he pulls a nutty.

6. I've heard cats do that because the have poor depth perception.
That helps them judge the water depth a little better and keep from getting their nose wet.

Or something like that.
Plus you need some way to get to the option where the cat makes that 'ack-ack-ack' noise they do at microscopic indoor bugs.
