My roommate passed away this morning
Her husband woke me up half an hour ago and asked for my help holding her, telling me that she got out of the bathroom, sat down on a chair, and wouldn't wake up. I propped up her head and took her by the wrist. I felt no pulse either in her neck or arm. She wasn't breathing, either. She was rushed to the hospital just now. She appears to be gone.

I'm at a loss for words.

16. Our cats aren't themselves, either.
My roommates' cat, Stymie (gray and white who looks like Tom from Tom and Jerry) and Max have been sniffing around all day looking from my deceased roomie. They're both shedding more than usual and crying for her.

Stymie

Ruby doesn't care either way because she didn't really know her and Sammy, our other cat, has been clinging to Daddy.

35. The only thing worse than her sudden death is the fact the the EMTs screwed up royally
The morning of her death, both her husband (my surviving roommate) and the police officer attempted CPR; the husband did mouth-to-mouth and the cop performed chest compression. Then the EMTs arrived, told them to move aside, and took over, only the EMT squad did nothing to try to revive her. No CPR, no defib, no nothing! The way they called for backup was appalling--they said, and I quote, "We have a big one here"!

The EMTs at the scene put her on the litter, dragged her body across the hall, and moved her onto the stretcher onto the street! She was stark naked and uncovered for the world to see! :grr:

That doesn't end here. Someone from the coroner's office repeatedly called her husband, harassed him, and demanded he provide them with a funeral home to ship the body. The guy refused to give his last name. We put two and two together and came to the conclusion that the coroner's office is covering up for the incompetence of the emergency squad didn't even try to save her life. Based on their actions, the emergency squad dropped the ball and the coroner is trying to cover up for them to get out of a malpractice suit. Good luck with that excuse given that a cop was an eyewitness.

What the fuck??? Call the company that employs these people and complain loudly. Call the media, too. Sue the crap out of them. Heads need to fucking roll for this!

This is just horrifying!

36. I'm sorry about your roommate
As far as the EMTs are concerned they had a duty to act until "backup" arrived. There's no excuse for that. I did CPR on a woman that had collapsed 30 minutes before my partner and I got on the scene and we still made an effort, not so much for the patient but for the loved ones who were in the home. Can you tell me how much time elapsed between when she sat down on the chair and when her husband called you for help.
