2. No individual beings that I love, that's for sure
I've read some things of late that indicate cloned critters are in no way replicas of the cell donor. The evince different colouring, differing personalities, different tastes and preferences.

I've been deeply hurt by the loss of people close to me in my life, but there's something very wrong to my mind in creating or even attempting to create a being as a 'replacement,' a kind of placebo.

Letting go is bitter and excrutiating, ethereal and transcendent in it's beauty; it's also a part of life.

If I were to clone anything it would have to be some aspect of the global food supply. Rice, perhaps or hard-white winter wheat.

9. AAAK! "global" food supply...shudder.
what a GREAT idea! but make it the local food supply rather than global. clone the needed food throughout the globe's network of local food supplies! yours would be the gift that truly keeps on giving - great idea!

3. Passenger Pigeon,
some cool, old Odonata. Perhaps I will wait untill I am eighty or so, and in the meantime I will collect DNA from the living species that are presently near extinction. THEN, I would clone them.

no, I'd clone Jack Daniels first. :D

8. Japanese Scientists Begin Work on Possible Mammoth Clone
Japanese scientists are starting work on prehistoric DNA samples for what may become an attempt to clone a woolly mammoth.

Scientists in Japan are hopeful the long extinct woolly mammoth, a relative of today's elephant, may return to roam the earth once again. Geneticists from several different Japanese universities have started to analyze tissue samples taken from a 20,000-year-old woolly mammoth carcass unearthed in the frozen Siberian tundra last August.
It may take years to bring the prehistoric beast to life through cloning - if it is possible at all. But the time factor and the uncertainty of success have not deterred the enthusiasm of one scientist who spoke to VOA on Wednesday.

15. We could just give it to Dubya...
His doesn't seem to be working correctly.

Wouldn't that be great...? Even if his evil henchmen wreck all manner of havoc and subvert Democracy to get him re-established in the White House, it would do them no good. 'Cause one day, he'd just wake up with a copy of your brain in his head and be possessed of good Democratic sense... As well as an urge to houndawg after pretty girls and boink on the hood of his car.
