When's the damned sick-out?!?! |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 02:19 PM by Career Prole
"General strike cripples Italy to protest Berlusconi's economic policies"ROME (AFP) - Italy ground to a halt as millions of workers observed a general strike in a show of force against the economic policies of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's centre-right coalition government.http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20041130/ts_afp/italy_politics_strikeSo why not us? There are millions of us too. We have a bunch of folks right here in DU Land who are out of work because of the chimp's economic policies, let alone the fact that they just stole another election and continue to kill people in Iraq on a daily basis in our names and against our will. Are there any plans in the works for a sick-out, at least? Whattya say, folks? A one day show of solidarity. It's worth a day's pay. Since we've saved all this money boycotting retailers we won't even feel it. Who's up for a three-day weekend next week?

I knew there had to be something! The silence was deafening when I broached the subject here... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=1032421&mesg_id=1032421Sure, it ain't no bracelet but witholding labor's been an effective way of protesting for a long, long time.

Check Indymedia or just do a search on bush inauguration and "general strike".

I'll make sure everybody who should hears about it in my sphere. I just hope it has the intended effect and the country feels a little jolt.

for over a week!!!! Almost lost it. Got disconnected and got a new password that wouldn't work. FINALLY, DU did reply and I'm so happy to be among friends!
I had asked someone to post a thread about Blue Lights and Black Ribbons for Christmas. I have mine up now! Looks kind of weird, but I'm making my statement. Wanted to go to D.C., but am Protesting locally on 1/20/05. Wearing black with LOTS of BLACK RIBBONS! I'm going to dribble a little red paint on the ribbons to Protest the War too!

10. Delays are foolish. 12/11, or 1/20 make little sense |

waiting so long means you are going to fail to get a new election. to get a new election, you have to do something now.
PS to re above.. the EC votes on 12/12. Not that it matters, since waiting till then means you will not get a new election, probably. EC "over and done" will take some enthusiam out of the push. "its all over" will echo in the MSM endlessly.

12. Are we really doing this? |
|
Because I think it is a great idea. Count me in! I think the inauguration is the perfect day, too. Are there links to other sites promoting this? Lemmeno.

13. Tomorrow is the day. Not Jan, which is too late |
|
Saw other threads so it looks like it is really happening tomorrow.
What do you mean Jan is perfect day? The post lambasted those who wait till Jan 2O, as too late to get new elections. I agree. Only those who have given up on winning this election, would want Jan 20 as the day.
Enjoy doing something in Jan but only after acting now, first. Act now and swear Kerry in.

16. Boycott Florida Citrus Now |
|
Please start a thread promoting a boycott of Citrus crops in Florida. We must show Jeb Bush who is boss. If we don't start using our financial clout, they will continue stealing elections. We must organize the boycott immediately.
