Invest in your future... buy a DEMOCRACY BOND |
|
I just heard Howard Dean on Randi plugging this new idea. It's a RECURRING (i.e. monthly) donation from your credit card to the Democratic Party. The idea is that Democrats should never be behind Republicans in fund-raising ever again: https://www.democrats.org/page/contribute/democracybonds

when they are voted in, I'm absolutly down. But I want to hear issues that matter to my wallet, meaning real focus on healthcare and issues related to CAFTA and labor.

Republicans making me money? That's hillarious. The democrats can make me a lot more. Universal healthcare would save me loads of money. So would voting against having my job shipped with India via trade agreements. Dems just nee to make this case, I will absolutely make a monthly contribution!

4. You are missing the point. |
|
It is not the job of a political party to make you money, or promise you a bonus (and given the current federal budget deficit, we probably all will have to pay more). HOWEVER, the field could be made more FAIR with the uber-wealthy and corporations paying a more realistic share.

I think its absolutely the job of a political party to pursue the financial interests of its constituents. To be frank, I think this is something that a lot of democrats have missed...but I don't need to tell you that the republicans haven't missed this fact! I'm no Bill Gates, I'm a working guy. I'm a working guy who has huge debt$ because he accidentally broke his arm without health insurance...Health insurance that would be there if Clinton's plan had gone through. I'm also a working guy trained in tech whose seen a lot of jobs going to India, and has to work for less because of it. These are political issues which effect my wallet, which the democrats have proposed answers for, but they get buried behind dirty video games and other faux causes. If money is what they need, they need to put these causes forward more. Republicans consider their donations "investments" and often the favors come back. We should look at the contributions of the working class the same way, that's all I'm saying.

|

7. If its coming back to me through relevant programs it would be fine. |

Like if the higher taxes covered my higher education, healthcare, public transit, so on. Of course I may not like it after I graduate from college and have higher earning potential, but hey...It beats never graduating from college cause I can't afford it!
