3. He said that on the 700 club, so it must have been on the public airwaves |
|
Hence, we have a legitimate point that murder threats should not be aired on the public airwaves.

4. I just got off the phone with someone from the FCC. |
|
I was told that what Robertson said was "freedom of speech" and it could not be regulated by the FCC.
I'm to file a complaint against the station who carried it.

I wish to complain about the terrorist comments -- the fatwa -- issued by radical cleric Pat Robertson, calling for the execution of a sovereign head of state.
Mr. Robertson is allowed to broadcast over his network, CBN. In light of this fatwa issued by him, which runs afoul of many U.S. laws prohibiting terrorist threats, I ask that all licenses for the CBN be pulled, until such time as Mr. Robertson is prevented from broadcasting on the air.

6. Here is what I am sending to WUAB |
|
Dear Station Manager, I wish to complain in the strongest possible terms about the content of a show that was broadcast on WUAB-TV in Cleveland on Monday, August 22, "The 700 Club". On that show, political activist and Christian televangelist declared a fatwa against the elected leader of a sovereign nation. Pat Robertson advocated that the US government assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
Here is Pat Robertson's exact words, as reported by the Modesto Bee: On Monday, Robertson said on the Christian Broadcast Network's "The 700 Club": "We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability."
This murderous hate speech has no place on airwaves that are owned by the American people. I believe that your management should display a zero tolerance for such right-wing terrorist language and remove the 700 Club from your programming schedule.
Thank you for your attention to this issue, and please do keep me apprised of your actions regarding this international embarassment.
