Stop national energy bill

The national energy bill, H.R.6, which is in conference committee but could go to the U.S. Senate floor soon, is a shady backroom deal that will expose consumers to more Enron-like manipulation of electricity markets by undoing the federal Public Utility Holding Company Act.

The act was passed in 1935 to stop massive public rip-offs by giant holding companies such as Insull Trust, which included Portland General Electric among its holdings when it went bankrupt in 1931.
