Support calls for the Tobin Tax

Threads seem to move so fast here that I am cross posting this in all appropriate furums.
I call upon all progressive people to support the Tobin Tax.
The reason being that some people make a living speculating in currencies. If you are living in a desperately poor country, the effect of outsiders speculating with your curreny can be disasterous.
Yet the fact is that if a tax of less than 1% were imposed on currency exchanges, it would have minimal impact on tourism, but would be a serious detterent to currency speculation.
The money raised could run to billins of dollars, and should rightly go to the UN, to spend on health programs and other initiatives.
