To those involved in River advocacy and activism
I would like to invite anyone who is active in river restoration, river ecology, and whitewater advocacy to utilize a new website I have created. Whitewater! is a discussion board aimed at the whitewater boating community. Whitewater paddling, of course, depends on free flowing rivers. As a group, we are deeply concerned with the health of our nations river ecosystems and are a fairly powerful lobby, in that regard.

I have a section devoted to river advocacy and would like to see it used, to it's full potential, much the same as DU's Latest Breaking News section. In addition I invite my fellow DU'ers involved in any sort of river restoration/conservation activism to announce events, meetings, projects and requests for help. The section is not reserved exclusively to river advocacy of a whitewater nature. Please, use the board as your own....and spread the word! It's free, non-commercial and paid for entirely by myself.

Thanks for your support,

RC

5. "I used to paddle a little whitewater"
In 1987, I upgraded to a Perception Dancer and spent years paddling. It was mostly in Western Pennsylvania, but I did make a lot of trips to run rivers like the Cheat and the Tygart in WV (and the very technical "Middle Fork"). I made a few trips down South to run the Ocoee, Nantahela, Chatooga, etc. We almost killed ourselves paddling the French Broad when it was at floodstage above bankful.

Now I just make a few trips on local streams to go convene with the kingfishers. I am much more into cycling these days--I don't have to do any driving to get there!
