“For a demonstration I suggest you fake it. Program them both so they look the same, and then just do the upload fro the AV. That is what we did in the last AT/AV demo.”

Support HR 2239

Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2003

on

Dec 2nd, 2003

Marking the countdown until the Election

11 months to go......

This is a call to action of support for HR 2239 introduced into the House of Representatives creating a federal law demanding a paper trail for every electronic voting machine.

These machines have serious flaws and holes left open within the system which can easily be manipulated.
A paper trail is necessary for the voter to take with them as a receipt and it is necessary to have in a functioning democracy.

Diebold is a heavy Bush supporter and there is much controversy over its past record of specific elections with this technology which leads many to believe, including me, that Diebold and other companies have been contracted out from the Republican Party to rig and corrupt election results as they see fit.

Whatever the fine detailed facts may be, the one very true fact is the very serious POTENTIAL for vote manipulation with these machines, which demand to be taken seriously.

We will take them seriously with our actions on the 2nd of December.

I encourage you to call and/or send email or letter to your and State Senators and encourage the support and immediate implementation of HR 2239, which Rep. Rush Holt (D-NJ) has introduced.

And don't forget to pass the word along, we need all the support we can get.

.......We all need to pick up our two feet and start walking..........

1. Injunctions and Blackboxvoting>>>>>>>>>

Hi everyone,

I've been brainstorming a bit with Bev Harris and the folks over at BlackBoxVoting and we are doing a couple of actions.

1. We had decided to do an Action on Dec 2nd as a day of calls to the House and Senate in Support of HR2239. And up till the 2nd I'm asking for volunteers to post the announcment for the action on various mainstream/non mainstream forums at least once a day till the 2nd.

I want everyone to know about HR 2239 and i'm going to be blogging the net untill the mainstream picks it up.

That was the plan, but just yesterday Bev decided that we really need an interim solution till (hopefully) HR 2239 is passed.

2. Court Injunctions starting at the 37 Diebold state dictricts. her new post is at the bottom.

I'm helping out with the Injunctions part a bit, but I'm going to do the Dec.2 action as well. One big factor about this is that not a lot of people, other than net nerds know about this whole story and i'm going to try and spread the word as much as possible.

If you could help in any of these actions, that would be great or just pass the mail along.

a)contact Bev about helping the Injunctions part, which have priority right now.

b) For volunteers who want to start posting its a free for all to all forums/indymedia like or any places to post or spread the word.

Please throw the URL down here so we can keep a reference for Double posts and check to see if the forum you

Injunctions needed!

We have two months, folks. HR 2239 is nice, but it is a long-term solution. The brutal truth is, there is no way to correct the problems with this system -- or even analyze the software that has been kept hidden from us, examined only by a broken certification system -- before the primaries begin in January 2004.

We need an emergency, interim solution

We are unlikely to get such a thing passed by Congress.

These systems are insecure, they cannot be fixed (no pun intended) before January, so we need an immediate moratorium on their use. We need to go back to paper ballots, hand-counted, for the primaries and we need to jump on that now.

The only way that I know of to achieve this is through legal injunctions. Starting with the Diebold states, and there are 37 of them, we need to start going to court. I have 65,000 documents, and I believe we can make the case to pull the plug, but I need more attorneys, in more states. I am especially interested in connecting with attorneys for Florida, Colorado, Georgia, California, Maryland, Arizona and Virginia. However, any state will do. If you are with a citizens group who is moving forward on this, contact me immediately: Bevharriscontact@aol.com

Everyone out of the pool. I believe we have the documents needed to remove this cancer with a few clean incisions, and I am willing to invest my time 24-7, and provide my resources, to anyone who can bring a lawsuit to the table. Have some. Need more. Do it now.

A cooperative action from:

And you.

2. tomorrow

OK everyone,

tomorrow is the day to call, email, and fax your Rep in case he/she has not cosponsored HR2239 to get a paper trail for every electronic voting machine.

look here for the current list of cosponsors:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:HR02239:@@@P">http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:HR02239:@@@P

Two weeks ago there were around 70 now its 84.....pressure works.

Also,

1.To make this action more effective i am asking that you find your local indymedia center....here http://www.indymedia.org, any forum you know , or message board on the net to post the action alert there.

Find the original message here http://www.americanether.net/DEC_2ndHR2239.html

2. Pass it on to your friends and encourage them to call.

3. A good campaign has to have endurance, so if your Rep doesn't change his/her mind tomorrow, I encourage you to keep calling, faxing, emailing at least once a week to make sure your Rep know how serious of an issue this is.

I mean its only a very serious potential for voting fraud we're talking about. You decide how big of an issue you feel making out this.

Your vote is in a machine, built from and for the profit of a something of a (corporation/government) thing entity......so think about that as you're calling.

p.s. if you want to find out more about this issue and want to see the attached ad (which space for was most graciously donated by those great kiwis in New Zealand) look at
http://scoop.co.nz/mason/features/?s=usacoup

its also the ultimate list of links and news articles about this issue.

so get posting and calling, we need keep this issue visible and the pressure on until this very important bill gets passed.

3. I'm so proud of my Congressman
I got an email from his local staff person saying he had decided to become a co-sponsor of this bill. I feel I've done something positive by bringing this to this attention. I'll be having dinner with him next week and I'll thank him for his action on this bill.
