Protest Cheney in Cleveland Monday 11/24
Yes, Mr. Death and Destruction himself is coming to a fundraiser near the Cleveland Clinic at the Intercontinental Hotel.

Date: Monday, 11/24
Time: 4:00 or 4:30 (I am not sure, yet)
Location: Meet and demonstrate at the corner of Carnegie and East 96th St

http://cleveland.intercontinental.com/

The police say we cannot block the road but will be allowed to walk on the sidewalk. Plan to keep moving so that we do not block pedestrian traffic. We have been told by the police that we "don't need a permit". Many local groups will be there to demonstrate.

3. Again??
I ranted about this in another thread - is it any bloody wonder that OH goes Republican and still puts LIEBERMAN at the top of the Dem polls when we've got Bush and Cheney here every other damn week and have YET to have a major appearance from any of the top tier Dem candidates (except quickie private fund raisers)?

I'm tired of hearing about how late OH's primary is (March 2). I'm guessing the conventional thinking is that by the time ours rolls around, the primary could well be over. But we still need attention NOW so it can build to the general election.

I'm tired of watching the candidates go to seemingly every damn state EXCEPT the one state that is repeatedly named crucial. And, not to be petty, but I'm getting a tad tired of working my ass off and spending my own damn time and money on materials, BESIDES contributing.

I'm still gonna do it, mind you. But there's a lot of us here in OH who are busting their chops and would really like a little attention from our candidates.

(Rant over)

eileen from OH

6. I don't know if I can swing it, guys. But I'll definitely try.
I'm glad I checked my e-mail just before hitting the sack. Talk about short notice!

Getting off work early tomorrow on the eve of Thanksgiving may be like pulling teeth. But if I can swing it, I might even bring a friend or two.

You guys have taken good care of me in Columbus. Now, it's time to repay the favor.

Let's give Uncle Dick a taste of "NEO Hospitality!"

7. P.D. Report: Cheney's visit raises $750,000, along with voices of protest

Cheney's visit raises $750,000, along with voices of protest

11/25/03

Mark Naymik
Plain Dealer Politics Writer

Vice President Dick Cheney raised about $44,000 a minute last night for his and the president's re-election campaign, collecting nearly $750,000 with his 17-minute speech before a room of Cleveland's wealthiest business and civic leaders.
...edit...

Tom Pirko, the Sierra Club's Northeast Ohio energy chairman, criticized Cheney's "hubris and secrecy" while drafting the administration's latest energy bill proposal outside of public scrutiny. "America needs to be a leader, not a follower of corporate direction," Pirko said.

Campaign Money Watch, a nonprofit group that monitors campaign finance, tried to portray Cheney's visit as a costly one to Clevelanders, noting that his visit was stressing the already depleted city resources.

"With today's news that Cleveland will cut 700 jobs, including 263 police officers, Campaign Money Watch calls on the Bush-Cheney campaign to reimburse the city of Cleveland for the additional costs associated with security around Vice President Dick Cheney's special-interest fund-raising event," the group said in a statement.

Plain Dealer reporter Sarah Hollander contributed to this story.
(She is the one who stood out in the cold to report this.)

8. Beacon Journal reporters stayed inside with the GOOPs
Cheney event raises $750,000 for election
Supporters in Cleveland shell out $2,000 each
By Carl Chancellor
Beacon Journal staff writer

CLEVELAND - A group of 75 or so protesters tramped along Carnegie Avenue across the street from the InterContinental Hotel where Cleveland's well-heeled played host to Vice President Dick Cheney on Monday night.

The protesters, a mix of environmentalists, labor folks and anti-war activists -- collars upturned, coats pulled tight against a bone-chilling wind -- chanted their discontent with the Bush administration and its policies.

Inside the hotel, small groups milled around carving stations, balancing glasses of imported wine and plates stacked high with roast beef, paper-thin slices of salmon and an array of cheeses and canapes.

At the $2,000-per-plate event, nearly 450 people listened as the vice president reeled off a list of the administration's accomplishments, from waging a winning war on terror to restoring confidence in the economy.
...edit...
the rest is gop bullshit.
Taft said that Bush and Cheney ``have demonstrated that they stand with Ohio.'' :wtf:
