Suggestion: mute all SuperBowl ads

Pass it on. Mute all the ads. Make sure CBS and advertisers know you did not pay any attention to the very expensive ads purchased for the Superbowl.

1. Maybe we should make a list of the advertisers and links to contact them
after the game. We could write and tell them we didn't listen to their advertisement and we are going to boycott their product.

2. How about just
shutting the tv off altogether during the commercials whether or not it is the super bowl, regular programming or so called news.

3. And exactly how would they know .?.?.?
This seems silly.

If you are going to boycott the Superbowl, then don't watch it. If you are not a Nelson Family, then again, they will not know.

Boycotting TV shows is stupid, unless you can advertise it, so that everyone has the opportunity to boycott it. Only then will they know about it (financially).

This seems alot like burning a flag in the privacy of your own home.

Cheers

4. the monday "watercooler talk" is how

Advertisers want their ads mentioned in the "watercooler talk" Monday.

They want you to say how funny and memorable you thought their ad was.

If the "watercooler talk" consists of enough of us saying we missed the ads because we muted them on principle, there's measureable damage done to CBS.

They measure that talk. It's real money to them.

5. Take the ACLU free fax action as well
Support the Free Expression of Diverse Ideas
Last week, CBS rejected issue-oriented ads by advocacy organizations such as MoveOn.org while allowing White House issue-oriented ads for its upcoming Super Bowl broadcast. Like all broadcasters, CBS enjoys strong First Amendment rights -- rights the ACLU has vigorously defended -- but as a powerful television network it has a special role in promoting diverse opinions.

Broadcast companies such as CBS are licensed to operate over the public airwaves to provide content and support the free flow of ideas that is necessary in a dynamic democracy. As media consolidation occurs, corporations have greater responsibility to ensure this forum remains diverse. If political pressure can be used to block out certain voices in this public forum, as some have alleged in this case, we all lose out.
Click here to get more information and to send a free fax to the President of CBS:
