So how were your "Outfoxed" parties?
Ours was fantastic!

Even out in the sticks as we are, we had around 30 people jammed into our living room, TONS more food than reprehensor and I could eat in one lifetime left over, booze, homemade ice cream, soft drinks, lots of activist plugs afterwards, basically an amazing time.

Fargo was totally cool with all the extra bellyrubs he got, and was soliciting goodies from everyone.

I took some great photos. We'll try to get them downloaded and get them up tomorrow.

Ask Derby378 about his Michael Moore impression! :P

Let's hear it ya'll!

5. Coarsegold, Calif.
About 25 of us showed up in the amazingly beautiful foothills near Yosemite. Many of us were from Fresno, since there was no party scheduled for the headquarters of Freeperland. A wide range of ages represented, although it trended older rather than younger (very few people in their 20s, for instance). An active, verbal crowd -- like others, I don't think we saw much of anything new in the film, but it was nonetheless compelling to see it all in one place, and as a group.

Our dear hosts, bless their hearts, had computer trouble, so we didn't get to be in the conference call. :(

6. Crystal City, VA
We had 14 people crammed into our little 2 bedroom apartment in a high rise just across the river from DC.

Lots of food -- lots of wine -- lots of very good dessert (including home-made oatmeal cookies and tiramisu!) -- lots of energetic discussion after the film. Everyone committed to redoubling their efforts -- in creative ways.

The idea of an FTC complaint against the false advertising of FoxNews was a big hit. Why SHOULDN'T FoxNews be forced to tell people -- "Yeah, we're gonna have 80% Republican guests and make sure all of our commentators and 'journalists' give you right-wing slants!" A free market only works if the producer is forced to be truthful about his product. Let the buying public decide whether they want Republican talking points spoonfed to them -- or if they want more serious, fair, and balanced news stories.

This is how we win the election. One house party at a time.

7. Mechanicsville, Maryland ....
Numerous locations in the MD DC VA area were listed "event full"
This one was in the boonies, but well-attended.
Several attendees were quite young and would be voting for the first time.
Our hosts were a very well-informed and very gracious couple.
He is a disabled veteran and SO pissed off at the Bush* administration, and how the military is being betrayed.
I NEVER watch FOX news, and I'm really surprised at how awful they've become. I mean, I knew they were bad, but I had no idea just how bad.
They are despicable. Beyond remdeption.

Edited on Tue Jul-20-04 10:24 AM by fudge stripe cookays
Since I've been able to wash it, it looks much better, though!

Tip for politically active trendsetters: Don't get a perm 2 days before a huge house party!

(:silly: <--- fudge stripe hair)

Fargo makes friends wherever he goes. It isn't often you have people VOLUNTEERING to pet sit your dog.

13. Great going FSC!
I didn't host one, but did attend a large event here in Austin. 340 people came out and took over two local bars. Here's the best part for me, there were lots of young kids (mid 20s to me is a young kid). I worry about who's going to keep up the fight sometimes, and seeing young kids like this, makes me happy. There are many young people who give a damn. You just have to reach them.

Anyway the two women organized this party are roller derby participants. Cool! I felt way under dressed (sans tattoos) but it was a good audience. Who says beer and activism doesn't mix. We registered at least 20 new voters.

It was a great film. I don't watch Fox (Faux News) so to hear them say things like "60 days until bu$h gets re-elected" made me want to wretch. I just can't believe they can get away with that kind of obvious political partisanship. Wake up America!!

16. Was that the big honking party
down near Red River?

I did a zip code search on some of my old stompin grounds to see what other types of nationside events popped up, and saw that one. Holy crap!

Our plans are still intact for this next week; can't wait to see everyone again!

17. Party in Philly was great
Went to a Outfoxed party in Powelton Village in West Philadelphia. Lots of people, great food. Very inspiring. Probably could have cut the video down by 5 minutes or so...
