The war- how are Dems different then Repubs?
This has been pissing me off for a long time, but watching the convention the last few days it is getting to the point where I can't hold it in any more...

If the war is wrong why don't we get out?

What I don't get is how me and probably 99% of people on this forum and nearly as many at the convention know the war is wrong and that our young people are dying.

What are our democratic nominees saying about the war? They don't like the way it started but they don't want to end it.

Why can't our nominees say we will get out ASAP?

1. They think Iraq is still salvageable.
If they want to hit Bush hard and jolt the right-wingers, you gotta bash the whole Iraq operation. Pull-out its over.

2. Conventional Wisdom I Know, But...
..if we leave Iraq now, we leave a mega-Lebanon, newly failed (before it even got started) state in the middle of the Middle East. Perhaps Iraq is now past the point of saving, but I think a competent administration (i.e. President Kerry) should be given a turn at salvaging something from the colossal mess made by the arrogant, incompetent ideologues of the W. Admin.

3. excuse me
But politicians cant fully say that they are going to get out or whatever, it depends on the situation and what are the best possible outcomes. I believe that Kerry would work with allies to clean up the mess of Iraq and make it a better nation. Leaving it to rot would fuel even more terrorism.

The whole point is that the Right Wingers in the Bush Administration are ideologically driven war mongers, and the Democrats are not. And thats the important thing.

4. Cheney
The Democrats don't have Cheney, and his diabolical self serving plans, and his absolutely outrageous conflicts of interest.

Isn't that enough? Do you really need any more than that?
