8. i'm not a troll
Why would you say that? I live in Utah. Look up the historical stats - the republicans win 80% of the presidential vote every single time.

Maybe I'll vote for nader then.

14. It would be wrong to call you a coward. Very wrong.
You want to vote for Kerry but you won't because nobody else is?

Because you have decided that you know your neighbors?

The only way to find out if someone will stand with you is to stand up. And if you're still alone, it does NOT mean you sit down again. You set the example for other shrinking cowards. You stand for what you believe alone.

They'll begin to crawl toward you, they really will.

2. ummmmmmmmmmmmmm,
I guess so many of us are really LOOKING forward to voting (if we haven't already), that it's difficult to relate to someone who doesn't give a crap.

Have a nice move. :hi:

6. I am thinking you should cut your losses
with a hood made of plastic and duct tape.

Just go and friggin vote. Do you think you will make much of a case to immigration if you don't even vote? Not exactly a good citizenship medal, and in real democracies citizenship counts.

11. Kerry needs to win the popular vote too...
If you're a sincere Kerry supporter, you need to give him your vote and any other Democrats you can mobilize -- Kerry needs to win popular vote so he can claim a "legitimate mandate" and get to work undoing the damage * has caused.

13. I noticed Kos had a good argument for voting - even if in red states
Of course there are always local and state races - but even with the presidential race and even if you are "sure" your state is red - there is still the sense of the popular vote - that it lends credibility - even if it doesn't "mean" anything.

The more votes - the better.

16. Wow. Feel the love
I make an honest post - I am sincerely thinking of not voting because my state is so skewed as to not make a difference.

I did not say i wasnt going to vote
I did not say i was going to vote for bush

and you people jump all over me because i'm new here.

In my state Jim Matheson is going to have a tight race against the repub challenger so I think my vote there would be more effective.

I also know my state isn't important in national elections. no one ever visits us. the repubs know they will carry the state, and so do dems, so they don't ever bother.

al gore isn't even running for election and he won't come here. kerry/edwards wives won't come here.

a few years ago utah was the only state where more people voted for ross perot than bill clinton.

I'm still not convinced my vote matters in national efforts, but that doesn't mean I hold teh same attitude in local elections. since Im not all "rah rah rah team" I guess that makes me a troll.

18. I live in Utah.
And couldn't feel more different. I agree that Corroon AND both Matheson's have an excellent chance. Hell, if we can get the Bush vote under 75% here, we will have accomplished a lot. Your vote DOES matter. There are a lot of truly preturbed Dems in this state. Let's give it our best!

20. i think we agree more than we disagree
I too think dems have a better chance locally than nationally here. I like Jim Matheson, he doens't seem to be a bad guy at all, and the only way Swallow can attack him is by saying "i'm the republican, vote for me"

i'm not in salt lake so i don't vote for mayor, but i think the governor race is a toss up. again, i don't see any real difference because the legislature will still be 80% repubs, and all the gov can do is veto bad bills, he can't sponsor any good ones.

but then again, who cares what i think or do, i'm just a troll :(

22.  I just got home from
a long day of driving canvassers for ACT - and EVERYONE we met either has voted, or is SO EXCITED to vote!

People have sacrificed for generations to keep this right free and clear for all Americans. Why you would want to throw that away, I don't have a clue. I was working at our polling place on Friday, and a woman who had recently had knee surgery hobbled up the stairs to be able to cast her ballot. She said that they were the first stairs she had walked up since her surgery, but she was going to get into that polling booth or be damned! She didn't even want to go up the handicapped ramp - she wanted to march proudly up the stairs (as close to a march as she could muster) and carry out her American duty.

So quit your whining, quit expecting the world to hold your hand throughout the campaign - get off your ass and vote!

You could move to a blue state if losing bothers you.

But then again....If I lived in a state with 80% republicans, Canada would probably look like a welcomed option.
