Why didn't the Congresspeeps speak up during the last 3 years?

More specifically, why didn't Edwards, Gephardt, Graham, Kerry, Kucinich and Lieberman speak out against Bush prior to running for President? And to take it a step further, why did they only start speaking out after Dean started opposing bush policies?

In my opinion a vote for any of these candidates will lose the general election for that very reason. They've all been compromised by their tacit approval of Bush, and we all know that a voter will always vote for the real thing over a supportive underling.

1. Remember that the press haven't been giving the Democrats anything

close to equal time.
Some of them may have had to join the race for the Presidential Democratic Ticket just so that they would get some exposure when they speak out.
