At a house party for Gov. Howard Dean on South Road in Hopkinton, NH on July 10, I was able to ask Dean while he was shaking people's hands if he supported the 1997 Mine Ban Treaty banning anti-personnel landmines.

He said that he not only supported the US signing the treaty, but also that we should ban the use of cluster bombs as well, which are not included in the terms of the treaty. He said that he had spent time in Laos and had witnessed the damage that these weapons have, and he commented on the fact that most victims are civilians, many of whom are children.
