Possible Cabinets in the next Dem. Admin.
So what do you all think the next cabinet should look like?

I have some ideas, though these are just my own personal preferences. I list multiple persons in some cabinet posts -- basically listing out a number of people I think are qualified for the position. Also, I don't go and name all the cabinet posts -- I don't know enough in many of these areas, so I try only to name the big ones.

Here goes my list:

Pres: John Kerry
VPres: Wesley Clark

State: Richard Holbrooke, Andrew Young, Gary Hart, Joe Biden, Al Gore, Bill Richardson*, Wesley Clark (if not VP), Fareed Zakaria
Defense: Eric Shinseki
Attorney General: John Edwards (presumptive '12 nominee; Clark to serve as Secretary of State in Edwards' cabinet)
Homeland Security: Warren Rudman, Gary Hart, Gen. Claudia J. Kennedy
Treasury: Frank Raines
HHS: Howard Dean
HUD: Wellington Webb
Environmental Protection: Al Gore (upgraded from EPA to cabinet-level Department of Environmental Protection)

Additionally, I think Claudia Kennedy would be excellent on the Joint Chiefs or as national security advisor.

Obviously, this is very thin on women. Please post your thoughts on the above names and suggest some women possibilities, especially for the top few spots.

1. for labor
Kucinich or AFL-CIO head Sweeney, the republicans would hate the latter a lot, hey if they can put CEOs in this we can put union leaders, and JFK did that, Arthur Goldburg was the legal counsel of the AFL-CIO/

2. related question
I don't have any suggestions - I don't know enough of the players yet. My question is, do candidates ever make their cabinet choices public before they are elected? I would assume candidates wouldn't bother until after the primaries. Thanks

3. Generally, no
Although it's been suggested by some Democrats for next years election -- at least for the national-security/diplomatic team: state, defense, homeland security plus the national security advisor, etc.

Others have suggested naming all the top ones, including the attorney general and the treasury secr.

4. thanks
I can see how naming some key positions would be a good strategy, but I didn't think candidates usually did that.
