RE: The Truth Is Out There - Bush's White House Clearly Involved in Recall Effort

Contrary to White House and national GOP officials insistence they would not get involved, the San Francisco Chronicle reports they have obtained a memo outlining "a Republican strategy to oust Gov. Gray Davis and help President Bush before the 2004 presidential election" that "clearly suggests the imprimatur of the White House."

The San Jose Mercury News further reports "After steering clear of California's tumultuous attempt to recall Gov. Gray Davis for months, a member of President Bush's political team has begun to drum up support for the attempt to oust the Democratic governor." (San Jose Mercury News, August 6, 2003)

The memo obtained by the two Bay Area papers states "Mindy Tucker, former Bush campaign spokesperson and current Bush campaign operative in California, has the White House's blessing" to target Gov. Davis.

The memo further states "Tucker, California Republican Party spokeswoman Karen Hanretty, and Tracy Schmitt -- formerly with the RNC and now with the Bush- Cheney 2004 campaign - 'will be coordinating seven simultaneous media- friendly events throughout California.'" (San Francisco Chronicle, August 6, 2003)

And while answering reporters' questions today Bush said of Schwarzenegger, "I think he'd be a good governor." (San Jose Mercury news, August 8, 2003)

These are just the latest reports of the White House's clandestine involvement.

The Los Angeles Times reported recently that "First Lady Laura Bush's press secretary, Noelia Rodriguez, was in Los Angeles this week helping Riordan -- the White House favorite in the 2002 GOP gubernatorial primary -- assemble a possible campaign team." (Los Angeles Times, July 31, 2003)

In addition, "recall proponents and representatives of potential Republican candidates met Tuesday at the Los Angeles office of Gerry Parsky, Bush's top California adviser" to discuss the effort. (Associated Press, July 30, 2003)

Despite their denials, the truth about the White House involvement has become increasingly clear.

This only serves to further unite Democrats at all levels against this costly recall effort that will cost taxpayers dearly. Californians know this is a partisan effort bought and paid for by the most conservative elements of the Republican party. They are using the recall, spending $70 million of taxpayer funds -- to push their right wing agenda.

Democrats in California, and throughout the nation, will not stand for this.

2. DUH....!
Karl Rove does not get his incredible successes from being cautious and rational, but from bluffing from an empty hand, or the tried-and-true Big Lie strategy.

The facts are that the Bush Crime Family and their energy plutocrat cronies are behind the fiscal catastrophe in California. But there's an election coming up, so they have to blame it on a Democrat! So they get their loyalist GOP asshole Issa to fund another "bourgeoise riot" in California, putting on a play that The People are Outraged at how The Democrats have mismanaged the economy -- when we ALL know it's smirky's fault. And then they turn it into a circus, by running an ego-induced psycho puppet Arnold, to detract from what is REALLY going on there.

They MUST do this; they MUST succeed in California! Why? Because the USA is falling like a house of cards; states and cities are falling because they do not have the revenues to function at any effective level. Whose fault is it? smirky the chimp's!

So they HAVE to make "the case" in California -- inorder to inoculate smirky the chimp from responsibilty for fucking up the entire USA.

3. So how do we fight these guys?
They are out to destroy our state. I can't even get liberals who will unite behind Kucinich to unite against the recall. Any ideas for strategy?

4. I'm on their email list and I got it already.
Sign up for their email; it's a great source to have.

However, I don't give money to the party. I just don't like soft money, please don't flame me!

But I give all that I would give them and more to local pro-choice progressive women candidates. Getting more women elected is how I choose to spend my political dollar.
