Teenie Deanies/online Dean gear store
FYI--there's a new Cafe Press store with Dean gear, including the "We can do it" Rosie image (Rosie for Dean) on t-shirts, lunch box, and tote bag. Also "I'm investing my tax rebate in Howard Dean" bumper stickers, and Teenie Deanies gear for the Dean supporter in your family.

1. somehow the commercialization just seems wrong ...
what do little kids know about politics??

Great ploy to get his name out & using kids to promote Dean...something seems wrong with this somehow....
Its one thing to want to win...to want to beat W *

....but to sell out to do it seems to me to defeat the purpose of trying to change things and get * out.

I don't want to get rid of one corp whore and end up with a different version of the same thing.

(Dean folks..I am not slamming Dean here...I am just concerned about the direction his campaign seems headed.)

Isn't it better to teach kids something real about this world- such as the good possiblities & potential of political candidates, rather than appeal to their shopping urges?? This just doesn't feel right...wouldn't feel right no matter who the candidate was ....

This really bothers me...

Peace
DR

2. Come on-it's just baby clothes

I would probaly get my kid a Clinton shirt or something. If I get my baby a basketball jersey, is it not right because he isn't old enough to decide for himself what team he likes. Whether or not a kid wheres a Dean shirt does not mean someone is going to vote for Dean. When I get a kid, before I buy my infant an Allen Iverson Jersey, I will teach him about all the potential and skills of all the other athletes.

5. fine if you want to use a kid for a billboard
go for it....yeah, its cutesy but.....

Am I the only one who feels commercialism totally controls this country?
Not just this, but everything is about being consumers.....about how something sells...and if it doesn't play to the masses its worthless....

....something just isn't right here...doesn't anybody remember what we did before malls & shopping???

Am I alone ...does anyone else get what I'm trying to convey??

Peace

6. You appearently look at it way differently then I do
Edited on Fri Aug-15-03 01:51 PM by VermontDem2004
I don't see any Parent buying this shirt for his baby, then the parent goes downtown or wherever heavily populated, holds up the toddler and yells "Dean For America" I look at it the same way as buying a toddler a baseball jersey, or a mini baseball cap, I remember my Aunt bought her toddler 'Baby Jordans'. Like I said, no one is going to vote for Dean because they see a Toddler wearing a Dean shirt so I don't see it as using a baby as a billboard. It's just a shirt, to me, whether a shirt is white or has a George Bush logo or whatever is still just a shirt to me.

EDIT:ADD

BTW, I don't see the toddler shirt at the Dean Mart at DeanforAmerica.com

7. What you're forgetting is that a lot of these online stores,
for any candidate, are NOT affilitated with the campaigns. They're just fans /supporters with a CafePress account or a silkscreen or an iron-on transfer program.

Dean's official campaign store is through Demstore, and all I've seen there are adult shirts.

3. I was thinking....
Wouldn't it be cool to have Dean Halloween costumes and masks? I'd love to see all the kids in Dean for America suits....

Adults could wear masks at parties....I'm not too creative but someone who is could have a good time with this.... I'ts a good promotion don't you think?

Or, am I a nerd?

4. On Holloween we should all dress as either Bush, Cheney
or Rumsfeld. That's about the scariest thing I know of!
