2. I Would Think He Would Be Uncomfortable Around Kids
Or at least they would be uncomfortable around him. But he does a pretty good job for a very tall man with a very craggy face.

<>

Apparently, he was a good father, even at the expense of making better connections in Washington when his daughters were growing up.

Note: This picture totally reminds me of myself when I teach elementary school. Kids are so friggin' cool. They are so much more genuine (and fun!) than adults. I'm not sure if I'll teach for the rest of my life, but I'm certainly enjoying it now.

6. Thanks for posting this b&w photo, Dr. Funkenstein! It's my favorite!
If you are a teacher, you probably already know that Kerry's sister is a teacher.

It is good to know that smart people like you are teaching our kids! Keep up the good work! You are a terrific advocate for Kerry.

7. Don't Let My Smart Ass Humor Fool You
I'm a very sweet guy in person.:)

I've worked with kids since I was in college. I used to be a park director in my hometown, organizing games and crafts, during my summers. It is the best job in the world. Hang out and play all day with the kids! After I got jaded about the academic world, I decided to switch from being a professor to going back to working with children. I just finished my first full year, and I'm working towards getting my "alternate route" teaching certificate. I may switch careers down the line, but for now it is has tremendous emotional satisfaction.

PS - It was very interesting to watch the whole Iraq situation from their perspective.

8. Kids can TELL about people.
When kids overcome their shyness and approach and make contact with an adult says tons about a person's character — especially a man's character. These photos show John Kerry is someone who really loves kids.

OTOH, as the pics of Smirko elsewhere on the thread show, when kids stay away, there's something wrong. Oh yeah. They know a creep, too.

10. His first wife suffered from severe depression.
He had to raise his daughters muchof the time on his own. I imagine it would make him more sensitive to those who suffer in their own families from a member's mental illness and its effect on the children.

4. Did You See Bush On Sept. 11?
<>

The Memory Hole has a video that shows Bush sitting quietly for 5 minutes(!) after being told about the attacks. See it for yourself.

9. Kids are great. Here's a picture to another time...
... when the candidate was just leaving childhood. John F Kerry is on the left. The man in the center is President John F Kennedy.
