If nothing else....
Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 01:17 PM by sfecap
I just finished watching a video of Gov. Howard Dean addressing the Young Democrats Convention. Frankly, I had a lump in my throat. Seeing the enthusiasm, the energy, and the interest of young people about the election process was simply amazing and moving. I sincerely believe that the key to the Democrats taking this country back will rest with those who are new to politics. For too long the dismal turnout at the polls have hurt us. The opposition is very effective at turning out their voters.

Gov. Dean has energized a base that has not been energized like this before. I have attended a number of Meetups and am always surprised at the large percentage of young people who say they never cared about elections before, yet they are motiveted by this candidate.

This is very good. (And his speech was excellent!)

I have no doubt that the other candidates, particularly Dennis Kucinich, inspire the same from our younger Dems. It is great that we have candidates who can and are doing this. It restores some of my faith that we will prevail.

Whoever becomes the nominee (it will be Dean :-) )....it is vitally important that the young people get involved, and turn out and vote!

BTW, the Dean speech is at: www.deantv.com

P.S. Any Dean supporters near Santa Fe who would be interested in attending a reception for Gov. Dean on Sept. 3rd, PM me and I'll send you the invitation...

hey...I jus tnoticed the star!

1. but, but
he's a Torjan Hoarse!

I looked into his eyes and saw the devil!

He was reticent about his centrism!

He thinks the ends justify the means!

Some crank in Vermont doesn't like him!

There, I just saved everyone a lot of time.

Great post, sfecap, thank you for the link and your time.

The reponses to Al Sharpton and Carol Mosely Braun during the Rainbow Push forum also underscored this. This I believe is what causes the DLC consternation due to the fact that they would RATHER target the RADICAL MIDDLE - it's easier and more prone to a formula(Kevin Phillip's term - not mine) than to shape policy and appeal to everyone including those whose lives it will effect the most (i.e. those with a longer future ahead of them)

Great post sfecap!
