AWD campaign announcement!!!!
Some of you already know this, but my campaign for US House Of Representatives (Ohio 16th District) will be having an online fundraiser!!!!

On September 1st, I will be out protesting a local Bush appearance in the morning. At 3pm, we make our official announcement to the local press, and at 5pm the fundraiser begins!

It will run from 5pm on September 1st until Midnight the following day. PLEASE consider donating, and together we will take back Congress from te hands of people like Tom DeLay.

Think about it...wouldn't "minority leader" suit the fascist DeLay MUCH better?? Together we can do it! Mark your calendars!!!

Sincerely,
Jeff Seemann (AWD)

5. More Info on Ohio 16th
Ohio's 16th Congressional District includes Canton, Ohio, a community hard hit by the Bush recession. Congressman Ralph Regula is now serving in his 16th term from the district. Regula won 68.9% of the votes cast in 2002, which is down from his showing in the 2000 election.

8. Before this depresses anybody...
Regula did bloow away the 2002 Dem...but the Dem did NO advertising, NO yard signs, NO campaigning. He was WAY over his head, and it showed.

I guarantee you, I'll be on the corner with a bullorn if I have to. But I will be heard, and I will win!

It would be nice to know what people are saying so you can hone it to a sharp message, ready to slash the oppostion.

...after primaries, we will hit the neighborhoods on Saturdays.

I'm taking lessons from a very good campaigner in my area and hitting as many doors as possible.

Also, PLENTY of local parades.

12. You might be able to answer a question I have
A friend of mine is pushing me to think about running for the state legislature in my area. It's a pretty small area, but I have no idea how to go about doing this. I live in Vermont, Windsor County. My friend has contacts in politics and says they can help hook me up with the right people. I am pretty consistent in my views with Howard Dean, and he was very popular in the state. Any suggestions on where to start if I want to look into doing this? I'm not sure I even want to, but am at least somewhat interested in the idea.

The more committed-to-change Dems that run, the mose possibility for change in America. Positive change.

We can win this War Against Citizens. With people like you running.

15. Well, I'm an Independent actually
And I'm not affiliated with any of the smaller parties, either. I'm probably closest to being a centrist democrat if anything. If I were to do this, I'd have to pick a party, and that's where my dilemma would start. I don't like the radical fringe on either side, but don't have any problems with sensible people on either side. If I successfully did this, I'd likely end up playing moderator between warring factions of politics...which is something I'm actually pretty good at doing. Too bad there wasn't a "common sense" party. :)

I also have no idea how to go about doing this even if I decided I wanted to. My views are very similar to Dean, so I'm pretty hard to place neatly in any specific label. I'm guessing I'd fare better doing this as a Democrat rather than Independent. I'm curious what other people think. I'd like for any suggestions to be as unbiased as possible. I know this is predominantly Democrats and that's where the suggestions are going to lean. I mostly want to know what the steps would be to do this, and if anyone knows what I could expect. Thanks.

The county seems to be trending Democratic. It's worth a shot, and you might even win. :-)

18. I'm not even sure who the current incumbents are
I know that I could win if I were prepared to devote the time and energy to do it. I also have been pretty locally involved in Dean's campaign, so I'm sure I could gain plenty of support there. I just need to find out what the process is, who the incumbents are, what I'd be required to do (time wise, mostly). I did hear that the pay is pretty good, too...so it would be worth it in that respect.

22. Is there a county in the 16th Congressional District that is not Rep?
I have been looking at your district. I can't find one that is Democratic.

Can you explain why you support Dean over Kucinich?

25. Actually....
THIS county (Stark) is more Democratic, but hasn't had voter turnout. Apathy has reigned supreme, and I believe it's been a lack of energy from the Dem candidates. If I bring anything to the table, it's energy. We shall see if my theory is correct.

As to the question of why I support Dean over Kucinich (and I'm glad you phrased it that way....I support both, just one OVER the other), I have an interesting story.

In 1998, I got interested in a movie that was very underground. It had a small group of followers, and it was a year away from release. The snippets I got to see and the comments and excitement from people around it intrigued me, and I became a follower. Soon, a snowball effect took place, and the buzz around it grew. I was part of an exciting grassroots movement, and it was fun.

Opening night of the film was sold out nationwide, and EVERYBODY knew about this film and had an opinion about it.

The movie...."The Blair Witch Project".

People loved it, people hated it, but it still became the suprise hit of the year. It will never be topped for pure profit. They spend 30 thousand, made 270 million.

I get the same feeling about the Dean campaign....it excites me about how people are coming together to join up from the internet. Many will hate him, many will love him. But by election day, he may just become the surprise hit.

Kinda silly, isn't it? I support his policies (as I do with many of the candidates, DK included)....but I just feel the excitement, and I've thrown my weight behind it.

However, if Kucinich wins the nomination, I will fully throw that same weight behind his campaign.

i'm in california, but will donate some dollars. all statewide elections affect the national agenda and it's important to pay attention to elections in other states also, as can be seen with what is going on in california. i would love to see tom delay's ass lose his leadership position in the congress.

as we swear in Jeff, Vince and every other DUer/Duer friend/relative who runs.

Come on! I've suggested a Democrat in every race. How about a DUer in every race where there's not a Democratic incumbent?

They could have the DU Caucus! And I could go to the DU Spouses'/Partners' Brunch!

Good luck, AWD Jeff!
