Edwards Uses Working-Class Roots To Appeal to State Dems
Richardson likes his ideas...good start for Edwards.

Presidential candidate John Edwards used his working class background to appeal to New Mexico's Democrats during a campaign speech here Saturday.
Edwards, a U.S. senator from North Carolina, contrasted his background with that of President Bush, the son of a former president, during remarks to the state Democratic party's central committee.
"This is about the kind of America we are, what kind of America we want to be," Edwards said. "Do we believe in George Bush's America, where the family we're born into controls our destiny? This is not the America we believe in, this is not what makes our country great."

Edwards pledged during a visit in April that he would campaign vigorously in New Mexico. He has garnered support from Attorney General Patricia Madrid, and though Gov. Bill Richardson has not yet endorsed a candidate, he has said Edwards' ideas impressed him.
On Saturday, Edwards criticized Bush's tax reforms, saying they benefit the wealthy while taking funding from needed programs, such as college financial aid for low-income students.
