Escaped 25 years ago and only wild horses or Dean could drag me back there in January.

We have some intense local election battles the day before across Eastern CT and hope it doesn't depress turnout. Our non-candidates will be there, but hope our candidates will come.

11. Bloomington/Normal, Illinois |
|
We've been meeting since July. We've had our local Democratic congressional candidate as a guest and attracted union execs and precinct committeepeople to our meetups.
Our primary host is a college student, and I do a lot of behind-the-scenes grunt work. Purchasing buttons, bumper stickers, group e-mail, etc...and hopefully I'll be driving 4 people to Iowa in January!

13. I just got invited to a Dean press conference in NYC the day of the MeetUp |
|
I'm not exactly sure what the press conference is about… the invite just says I'll get to stand with Dean to help celebrate how far we've come.
from the looks of it, it seems that only people who've previously volunteered are invited due to space limits.
anyway, I'm pretty psyched now.

There are 2 happening in town.
Also, tomorrow night at midnight the Dean bus is coming to town. Zephyr Teachout will be there to get the bus some exposure and to give us flyers to hand out. Flyering at midnight...this should be fun!

We are the largest Dean Meetup group outside the US.
The majority of our group are ex-pat Americans however we do get dual-nationals, some locals and the occaisional vacationer.
www.deanforamerica.org.uk is our website.

22. I just checked and found TWENTY locations in the Seattle area |
|
I went to check for the closest one this month and sign up. At the "meet-up" site, 9 locations are listed. But on the "Get Local" page, there are 11 more! My most convenient is always on the local page.
Last month there were about 60 people there and I don't see how they could even be included in the "official" meet-up count.

We are splitting our overflowing Meetup into 3, and reaching out to the southern part of our county where there is a large Latino population. I'm off to Kinkos this morning to make copies of our bilingual Meetup flyer. After my son's soccer game, I will head out to do some flyering.
When I step back for a second and realize how much of my free time I spend working for this campaign...it's amazing. And I know that there are so many more people doing so much more than I am. For free. Because we believe. How cool is that?
