Hey AWD and other office seekers |
|
Was just wondering if anybody inquired about air time costs at Clear Channel stations, and thought this would be a good place to post the $$ figures.
How about it, any hard facts yet?
See if there is really any "balance" when it comes to political ads.

1. I did a media buy for a School Board Candidate |
|
in Youngstown, OH, where CC owns 80% of the market. As an old radio guy, I was shocked to walk thru 5 onair studios and 3 production rooms and only see 2 living, breathing humans!!!
The time buy was pretty fair, as they must offer the same deal to any and all 'official' candidates (those on the ballot). For $24 per minute we got a spot on the highest rated talker (and Ytown home of Rush the Junkie) WKBN-AM, WNIO-AM (a rinky dink AM) and WBBG-FM, the 60s/70's oldies station. That's $24 per minute across all three stations. Not bad, considering the WKBN-AM rate card goes as high as $40 per minute for commercial advertisers.

2. $24/min gets you three stations |
|
I had no idea that radio commercials were so cheap. Of course, the AM radio part should come cheap.
Memories: I was on WNIO when I was in the Boy Scouts. We were doing something that needed publicity, so we got to tape an interview. Whoopee!

3. The spots didn't help... |
|
My boy lost, but only by 214 votes...
Back in the day WNIO was out in the woods, remember? Now it's part of this VERY hi-tech Clear Channel complex. Evil company, but the facility is damn cool...
