Question on matching funds |
|
To make the math easy lets say the spending cap is 30m if you accept
now the ammount matched only applies to the first $250 of each donation as I understand it
So lets say everyone that donates to your campaign gives you $2000
you get 60,000 people to donate giving you 120 million dollars total.
if everyone of these donars is matched by federal funds you get another 15m giving you a total of 135m
if you are only allowed to spend 30 mill what hapens ro the other 105m?
Also once you reach the cap what hapens to the cash people still send in?

1. If you accept the matching funds (and spending limits that go with them) |
|
you can't spend more than a TOTAL of $45 Million during the primary cycle which doesn't end until the nomination at the Convention. And you can't accept donations beyond the spending limits. You have to send any money beyond the cap right back to the donors.
