Congressman LaTourette, R-OH, files for divorce
Edited on Wed Nov-05-03 01:48 PM by SpikeTrees
With copious backing by millionaire Fred Lennon, righteous anti-abortion candidate Steve LaTourette defeated first term Democrat Eric Fingerhut in the GOP rout of 1994. When he won in 1994, LaTourette said that he would only serve four terms and not become a career politician. Last year, he announced he was going to run for a fifth term because it was an important election for President* Bush. Perhaps his real reason for running again is that he found something more attractive in Washington than George Bush.

Rep. LaTourette, wife plan to end 21-year marriage, attorney says

10/29/03 Stephen Koff, Plain Dealer Bureau Chief

Washington- Rep. Steve LaTourette and his wife, Susan, are close to ending their 21-year marriage.

...snip...

The Republican from Madison and his wife, both 49, refused yesterday to publicly air their differences. But The Hill, a Washington newspaper for policy makers, reported that Susan LaTourette was accusing her husband of having an affair with a Washington lobbyist.

Susan LaTourette told The Hill that her husband called a few weeks ago to say he wanted to end the marriage. The newspaper quoted her as saying the congressman told her that "he had a girlfriend and wanted a divorce."

....snip....

Susan LaTourette also would not comment on her marriage yesterday. In The Hill, she said she did not know where her husband lived in Washington, and she suggested he had been corrupted by the capital's power and greed. "Now he's one of them," she was quoted as saying. "All they care about is getting re-elected. I hate them all."

...snip...

*the legitimacy of George Bush's presidency is disputed in knowledged circles.

2. Leavin' Steven stood shoulder-to-shoulder at Bush signing the abortion ban
All the usual creeps were there, Hastert, Frist. Leavin' Steven was the short guy on the far right.

To his credit, LaTourette has been somewhat supportive of environmental issues, and he voted against the $87 Billion for operations in Iraq. I just cannot feel too much compassion for him, even in a difficult time. He is a family values hypocrite.

3. taking this seat
What are the chances of us reclaiming this seat? The district did go to Gore in the 2000 election.
