Poll question: Dean: SEIU, AFSCME, or Both Endorse This Month?
Edited on Thu Nov-06-03 11:59 PM by tsipple
The national AFSCME governing board meets on Wednesday, November 12th. The national SEIU has made a decision but has not announced its decision and will not announce until AFSCME meets.

AFSCME is the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, with approximately 1.5 million members. SEIU, the Service Employees International Union, has over 1.6 million members. Both are part of the AFL-CIO. AFL-CIO has approximately 13 million members.

Question: Will AFSCME, SEIU, both, or neither endorse Howard Dean this month?

(On edit: Corrected question text to match subject line text.)

2. No rabbit's feet needed.
SEIU wouldn't have held back their endorsement unless it was to make an even louder statement. It's a done deal.

11. This campaign is heart-stopping!
I was on the phone yesterday with a staffer in Iowa when the SEIU thing was going down; they are beside themselves there. They are eagerly awaiting the SEIU endorsement there, because the head of the local is a Gep supporter and so far has not committed any resources to Dean. He will have to, after the endorsement.

4. What do you think maybe the unions have actually listened ......
to the "insanely bad written and researched speeches" of late and might reconsider the nod for Dean......

9. Dean is getting both.
The SEIU is certainly endorsing him and the fact that they are delaying for AFSCME is a sign that they are both with Dean. Kudos to him and his supporters. I'm a Clark guy, but Dean is a VERY close second for me. I would love to see them on the ticket together.
