Zell Miller, Other Democrats Voting Records
This is a list from Moore's book Stupid White Men, of who votes Republican, under Democratic sheep clothing. Notable, I think, are both Condit, and Traficant, the two supposedly Democratic congressmen, who voted for Republican agenda's, 50% and 70% respectively. That explains a lot, doesn't it fellow democrats, the two of them are basically Republicans, disguising themselves as Democrats.

Pay particular attention to Zell Miller's record. He voted with Republicans 100% of the time during the time observed by this book. No wonder he hates Democrats, he's been a Republican apparently without even knowing it!! Spread this jewel around to other boards.

Time to Remove These "Democrats"

This list shows just how far off your Democratic representatives to Congress are from a progressive agenda. The percentages represent how often they voted against the liberal legislation and in favor of the Republicans. (Source: Americans for Democratic Action; based on voting records in the year 2000)

1. for the House of Representatives
Please add Ralph Regula(the sponsor of HR 2660)
this guy's weaknesses(HR 2660=overtime bill) can be exploited.

Katherine Harris won her district by 54%. Seniors(among other people) in her district showed that they were extremely unhappy with her and the prescription drug bill.

3. Odd that Jay Inslee is on that list
I'd never vote against him. He's opposed Bush in all the matters I've ever checked about. He's the guy who sponsered the Joe Wilson Forum in Aug and he's a participant in the rebel team of Dems that does the after hours floor protests about the Iraq invasion.

He's very strong on veteran issues- maybe the repubs have coopted undeserved responsibility for that kind of legislation

4. WTF is Daniel Inoye doing on that list!?!?!
Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 03:40 AM by Doomsayer13
The Dem Senator from Hawaii is one of the most liberal progressive voices in the Senate. His lifetime America conservative union record is an astounding 7! Mike Moore should really do his reserach.

7. He missed a lot of votes
Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 06:31 AM by NewJerseyDem
Maybe he had some health issues that year but he missed quite a few votes so his rating dropped.

Also, he sometimes votes more with the republicans when it comes to defense spending. He also has opposed some democratic attempts to do things like force the president to submit a plan on Iraq to congress. Recently, he opposed loans for Iraq and instead supported grants. He also supports ANWR drilling. So, he is usually a solid liberal but if you pick certain votes he will come across more conservative than he really is.

8. Zell Miller replaced Coverdell
Paul Coverdell died in 2000 and Zell Miller replaced him at the end of the year. There were only 2 ADA votes that he voted on and those two were against the ADA. So, you can't really use that to determine is record.

Those two votes had a lot of senators who voted conservative. Almost all the senators voted against the ADA on one issue. Other senators that would have gotten 0% ratings fromt the ADA if those were the only two votes to be used include Bob Toricelli, Bob Graham, Tim Johnson, Tom Daschle, Blanche Lincoln, and Joe Biden.

Those two votes were:

19. H.R. 4444. China Trade. Passage of the bill to make normal trade relations with the People's Republic of China permanent. The bill includes provisions to protect U.S. businesses and workers from import surges; establish a commission to monitor human rights, labor standards and religious freedom in China; require the Administration to report annually on China's compliance with trade agreements; and express the Sense of Congress that Taiwan should be admitted to the World Trade Organization. The measure would also authorize $99 million for Radio Free Asia and the Voice of America to expand broadcasts to China and neighboring countries. Passed 83-15. Sept. 19, 2000. A no vote is a +.

20. H.R. 2415 Bankruptcy Overhaul. Motion to invoke cloture (thus limiting debate) on the conference report on the bill to overhaul the nation's bankruptcy laws. The bill would have imperiled the nation's consumers. Motion rejected 53-30. Three-fifths of the total Senate (60) is required to invoke cloture. Nov. 1, 2000. A no vote is a +.

9. According to Zell, we should be blaming Dascle for Cleland's defeat!
Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 08:23 AM by burr
<snip>
Press: Senator, quick last question. One of your friends is Sen. Max Cleland. I think he's a great American, triple amputee in Vietnam. When he ran for re-election and you supported him, the Bush White House went after him and called him unpatriotic . . .

Miller: No . . .

Press: . . . because he opposed the homeland security. . .

Miller: They did not call him . . .

Press: How can you support President Bush after what he did to Max? . . .

Miller: They did not call him unpatriotic. What they did was the national Democrats and the leadership of the Senate, they made the man vote over and over again on putting collective bargaining ahead of homeland security and they hung an albatross around his neck that was impossible to remove. And they did the same thing with Judge Pickering in Mississippi. You reap what you sow.
<snip>

I guess Cleland deserved what he reaped according to ZELL. But here's the best quote yet from the Senator..."We do campaigns; we don't do government. I'm angry at a process in which 100 cannot pass a bill because of 41 votes out of 100 can defeat. Explain that to Joe Six-Pack at the Kmart."

This would be a little hard to do since Joe was fired from K-mart when the store filed for Chapter 11 years ago, and he can no longer afford to buy his Six-Packs! And why is Zell so out of touch? Here is Tom Baxter's explanation...

"I'm sorry, sir, but we don't seem to have a Joe Six-Pack on the guest list

It was not only the address but the list of sponsors that caught our eye in an invitation to a Washington reception celebrating the publication of Zell Miller's book, 'A National Party No More.'

The location was the Potomac Room at the toney St. Regis Hotel on K Street. The sponsors were an A-list of Georgia corporations: Southern Co., Coca-Cola, AFLAC, the Williams Group, McKenna, Long & Aldridge, and the Shirley & Banister and Troutman Sanders public affairs groups."

10. I wonder what Max Cleland thinks of this traitor
I used to think that the only redeeming thing about Zell Miller is how he came out for Max Cleland in 2002. Now it seems as though Zell would want to burn that bridge with the Democrats too. What a disgrace. The sad sack of shit apologist should just shut up already. Do you get it Zell? This is coming from a former defender of yours.

11. He thinks Zell is a tired, bitter old man longing for his younger days..
this is why Cleland stayed cool and has not returned Zell's shitty insults. B-)
