Kucinich speaks out on AIDS |
|
Less than a year after President Bush and the GOP made headlines promising a committment to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa, their backsliding is already well underway. After pledging up to $3 billion per year to combat the epidemic in his State of the Union address, President Bush submitted a budget request calling for only $2 billion in next year's budget. Thankfully, my colleague, Rep. Dick Durbin, introduced an amendment adding an extra $289 million and shamed the Republican leadership into supporting the measure. We won that fight, but the president still has not demonstrated that his high-minded words mean anything when it comes to battling the great plague of our times. I call on the other Democratic candidates in the presidential race to make their voices heard on this urgent issue." kudos to all those who stand up on this issue, including DK and Senator Durbin.

My guy Dean has had his hands full lately, buy he should get back to making this an issue as he has in the past.
DK is right to keep this in the forefront.

3. Dennis has a knack for bringing important issues to the forefront |
|
I have noticed that in this campaign (and even before he entered) DK has brought a number of really important things to the attention of the public...eventually picked up by other candidates.
The cool thing about Dennis is that its about getting the isues out more than the ego strokes for doing it.....
GO DENNIS!!
Peace DR
