5. Is this an answer to religious dems prayers, or what? |
|
I said in another thread that I thought the dems would pull Hill out of a hat, but Gore is just as good. This sounds really promising!

This pressure is too little too late...
And it is dwarfed by the pressure he would get from the current candidates and their contributors, to stay out of the race.
(edited for spelling, I now, on daye I wil tak tha clas!!

Some may welcome it but others might say, hmm, now that Bush is not as popular as he was in November he is willing to run--why wasn't he willing to take Bush on when he was at 70% like Dean, Gephardt, Kerry, Sharpton, and some of the others were???

If Al runs, I will back him as I said from day l. I care not when he enters the race, just that he enters.
On edit: Remember, they didn't want him. It's pretty hard to stay in a race without support. Now they see the need, which is growing every day. We need someone that most dems can get behind. We are certainly scattered.

I back Kerry (though I also like Clark and Graham), but will stick with Gore, no matter when he enters the race. The man should be president now, I always thought he'd be the greatest president since Truman, and whenever he runs, I will back him.

|
the majority of Americans who voted voted for YOU!!!
You OWE us the defeat of Bush in 2004!
We will stand behind you 1000%
And THIS time we will not sit on our hands. We will take to the streets to finally have a legitimate president in this new millenium.
Gore/No More War/2004!!!!
Is there any question that we the majority at DU would flock to support him if he came back in???

12. Gore in 2004!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
I was so disappointed when he announced he wouldn't run. I think this time he'd pick Bob Graham as his running mate (it should've been him last time!). If he ran, I think he'd pick up the nomination easily and would be the best president ever (I have never wanted a candidate to win as badly as I wanted him to win in 2000) I think he'd have a real shot, and considering that he's universally well-known, wouldn't have to spend any money trying to let people know who he is. His biggest problem (that he's not the greatest speaker), would be solved if he just presented himself as he did in his concession speech: charming, humorous, caring (the exact opposite of Shrub)
Can you imagine the headlines:
Gore defeats Bush again! This time he actually heads to the White House!
Stupid Bush and his stolen elections.

the choice of a President is very visceral for most voters, who, unlike us, don't vote along party lines or on policy. They vote for whom they like and trust. Gore simply cannot be personable enough in the way that many of the other candidates can be. He is too stiff in front of a camera and there's nothing he can do about it, he has tried for two decades to improve. He's a good fellow, but this is a must win situation. Any one of the current candidates can improve enough in front of a camera in the next year to be far better than Gore.

13. I disagree. Gore would be a breath of fresh air |
|
he's intelligent, articulate and very experienced.
At this point he would WAY beat all the others all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
I think the stiffness thing is bullshit at this point and a repub talking point.
And after a rest and recreation period he WILL come back in.
The time is right and NO ONE DEM out there now has the charisma Gore has nor will they get it in time or over time.
Not only that - but in 2000 there was no real DU or Moveon or any of the other sites to rally the troops for Gore.
We CAN do it!!!!
GORE!!!! YES!!!!

but he is damaged goods. People not us will be put in the position having to admit that they were wrong voting for Bush over Gore last time. While it stinks for Gore, a suppporting role is what I think is the most he can do.

Gore stated that he wasn't running. if he changes his mind now, he'll have shown once again that weakness of character, that wishy-washiness, indecisiveness, the wimp factor, that dogged his earlier campaign.
we have a fine field of candidates already without Gore.

It's too late to change his mind. If he wanted to run, he should have gotten in at the beginning of the year. Not only will he get lambested by the beltway media for changing his mind, but the race has already taken on a dynamic of its own. Do you think all the Dean supporters who have generated so much excitement and money will just drop their support and run to Gore? No way.

19. All Gore has to do is point out that * had his chance |
|
and point out the deficit, Iraq outrage no wmd's, no osma, high unemployment, the fact that there was NO TERRORISM TASK FORCE by this administration until after 9-11 and they were warned and left with a plan to get osma etc.

True . . . the other Dems are already doing this, the question is whether Gore would for whatever reason get the point across better. I get your point tho -- those who voted against him last time, don't they see they made the wrong choice

22. Al From would abort a Gore comeback |
|
and I don't think that Al Gore wants another hatchet job from Al From from the rear and another from Bush from the front.
Al Gore knew that Bush would stumble and he backed out because he couldn't get the party hierarchy to support him. I seriously doubt he'd get back into the race right now even if he's been encouraged by the same party hierarchy that told him to bow out in December.

And with the candidates divided, most voters undecided, Gore can galvanize the race.

Saying if he came back he would be a liar and such. You better hope your ass he comes back. He is the only candidate that can win. He has spoke out against Bush and get Bush on his failures this time.
Bush could attack Gore on his decesion to come back, but who CARES? Bush lied and people DIED!
