Paging Charlie Crystal, Vince Whitaker, Andy Stephenson!!!!!
Hey guys.....how about if the 4 of us hold a DU fundraiser together and split the contributions 4 ways?

It's sometimes difficult to get individual contributions, but a "DUers for Office" fund drive would spark a LOT more interest.

You guys in? We need to hammer out details and legalities.

Check in with me in this thread, or PM me.

1. We'd need to check out the legalities...
As eyesroll mentioned (in a PM), we would probably need someone to form a PAC. That said, if we can put it together, I really like the idea.

2. Ask Goobergunch...
...whatthe laws are regarding contributions to federal and state candidates from the same fundraiser, and can one of us accept all donations and pass them along to the other three?

3. Update!
Edited on Mon Nov-10-03 04:16 PM by AWD
I called the FEC. The three Federal candidates can do this, but the State candidate (Andy) cannot. We CAN donate to his campaign if we want to, but he cannot be a part of this fundraiser at all.

There are ways to get him involved, but they are toeing the line and we can't afford to risk it.

I propose (if Charlie Crystle wants in) that the three of us hold a DUers For Congress fundraiser and divide the proceeds. Each of us may donate individually to Andy, but the funds MUST be individual contributions and NOT from this fundraiser.

Also, a PAC does not need to be set up. One of us can accept all the funds and split it up as we see fit. I would volunteer for that and gladly share PayPal account info to verify amounts (and receipts of mailed in payments)

Somebody get Charlie Crystle and see how he feels about it???
